I hope this video helps in some way with some tips/tricks/general information for your wiring project. I didn't want to make a dedicated install video for this as it simply doesn't make sense to do so on a system that it no longer being made as it was replaced by the X21 which is superior. Like most of what I do, these are not rules but rather just how I do things. Many times being customer work requires me to approach things differently than how you or I would approach our own bikes. As always, feel free to hit me with any questions and Ill do my best to respond.

Hi, looks like its ok in USA , this is what it says in UK : Direction indicators must emit an amber light, except motorcycles first used before 1 September 1965 can have white front indicators and red rear indicators, thanks , Gus

We use amp connectors and deutsch connectors at work. Both are reliable and waterproof. For controlling hydraulic systems on farm vehicles and cranes

Is the control unit offered on it's own without the switches? I have switches that I want to use already, but currently just have a fuse box that is wired up for my bike and the control unit is an attractive solution.
@BrickHouseBuilds2 жыл бұрын
No we do not currently offer them as just the hub. To make it as easy as possible for the customer we offer the different control options with thr S, M, and P styles.

Tide job !! is it allowed red rear indicator light there ? thanks
@BrickHouseBuilds2 жыл бұрын
Yes it is. Lots of factory bikes have red signals out back. I don't think there will be any trouble on that front

Those JST connectors you push the connector through the blue silicon sleeve while it’s in the plug, removing it like you did is fine, but it can make it harder when you accidentally put one wire in the wrong slot … ask me how I know 😅 Just out of curiosity, the NWT system, I’m looking at Harley bars and switches for my GL400, but the turn signals are momentary so you have to hold them on all the time, is the unit able to take a momentary signal and make it a latched input, so one press turns on, press again to turn off?
@BrickHouseBuilds2 жыл бұрын
I disagree. You want to only insert the wire through the silicone as trying to force the terminal through can tear it or deform. You simply insert the wires exactly how you need them in the connector and they are held there for you to pin/terminate. Pinning it in the wrong spot is difficult regardless. For controls I mention that the X21 systems are only sold WITH controls pre-wired. This is to eliminate the confusion and component damage exactly relating to your question. The hub itself varies with internal programming to whether a switch is momentary or latching.

Your videos have been playing on repeat as I plan out my CX500 build. Thank you so much for putting these out! Quick question, what solution did you go with for the tach input? I’m trying to figure out the best route for getting an accurate reading. I plan on running the Rae sun 12v conversion and the x21
@BrickHouseBuilds3 ай бұрын
I always run a signal wire from the ground/signal side of the coil
@UCLemonBEE2 ай бұрын
@@BrickHouseBuilds Thanks! Just so I'm sure that would be the Pink ( Engine Power ) wire from the X21 right? And would I still keep it selected as CDI even though I'm swapping to the Rae Sun?
@BrickHouseBuilds2 ай бұрын
@@UCLemonBEE tach input and ignition power are two different things. The pink wire from the output side of the x21(engine power) is to supply 12v to the ignition system depending on what system you have. A tach feed is from the ground (trigger) side of the coil.
@BrickHouseBuilds2 ай бұрын
@@UCLemonBEE I'd you have the cdi version of the rae san yes, cdi option. if it's hall effect, no

I'm wondering why you bothered to do an electric fan and not just the stock fan that runs all the time anyway. I understand your set up as you explained it....I think....but it seems like if the fan was just running all the time you wouldn't need the option of turning it on at slow speeds to cool the engine. What am I missing, besides obvious cool factor because that is really neat.
@BrickHouseBuilds2 жыл бұрын
Well at sustained low speed/idle the temps just get way too high for comfort. Thats when it spins the slowest and you need it to spin the fastest. On the highway the fan is spinning very fast when you need it the least. The elimination of the fan can also help it feel a tad more rev-happy
@BrickHouseBuilds2 жыл бұрын
Here in Missouri it just gets really hot with high humidity. My KLR I have to do the same with running it a lot to keep temps in check even though people say don't worry about it.

Will the X21 be changed to use block connectors rather than individual terminals for the main wires?
@BrickHouseBuilds2 жыл бұрын
No there is not really a reason that would be a necessary change as you would still have to individually wire into the block

Hiya @@BrickHouseBuilds , thank you. I have watched a fair few. It is the 2 main power connectors on one side, and the 9 (?) on the other side which from the pictures have screw terminals
