Snapping his fingers AS he plays piano - and sings - his own song. Doesn't get any cooler than that.

One of America's great arrangers. I'm impressed with the fact that the music presented on Playboy's Penthouse and Playboy after Dark is all LIVE and authentic. No lip-sync singing, no overdubbing of a playback track and fake pretend playing the instruments....it is all live, real, authentic and played/sung as we see and hear it !! Real talent, live from the "real old days" of the 1960's.

Excellent. Sinatra's version is great, but it's always nice to hear the composer singing it the way he originally intended it to be heard. Bobby Troup was another one like that...

I couldn't agree more, Bobby Troup was seated at the table behind me one evening at an LA SFV Jazz supper club which I thought was 'Cool... & Tom Hattan, the Host of "Popeye" on KTLA Ch 5 in LA was seated at that same table at 'Monteleone's West' in Tarzana & it was Snowing on this Cold Feb evening in Tarzana which is Rare in LA

This must have been filmed around 1957 when Cy Coleman wrote the music and Carolyn Leigh wrote the lyrics for Witchcraft. What struck me in this rendition was the beginning bars which sounded an awful lot like the introduction to The Pink Panther theme (1965) by Henry Mancini, some 8 years later. I wonder if Hank heard this and it resonated with me, such that it unconsciously helped to create his iconic Pink Panther theme.

Nice song and those Playboy bunnies didn't hurt it. Musically I prefer Bill Evans's version but this wasn't too bad except a little too "show business" for my taste.

Did Henry Mancini expand that intro into the Pink Panther theme song?

Regarding your You-Tube question about the tune "Witchcraft" played by its composer Cy Coleman on Playboy's Penthouse TV show (1960's) No, the song "Witchcraft" was not used in any way by Henry Mancini. Mancini wrote the theme of the Pink Panther completely on his own for the movie of the same name in 1963. Mancini was a fantastic TV and Film industry composer and arranger, and at the height of his musical career, Henry Mancini was THEE music man in Hollywood, just as John Williams is THEE music man today (2020) for movie scores. Mancini wrote the music for a hit 1950's TV Private Detective show called "Peter Gunn". (1958) From the cool and intense big band jazz he developed for the Peter Gunn series, he created an instrumental sound, which he later used in writing the Pink Panther theme..one of his most memorable themes.
