You don't have to install anything unless you really only want to use your right click mouse. "Holding shift + right click" skips the "show more options" and shows you the classic context menu.

One feature you failed to mention about Fan Control is the ability to mix profiles. Once you have the CPU/GPU/Pump profiles set up you can then mix them so that for example if the GPU temp starts to rise it will not only speed up the GPU fans but can also speed up the case fans but not necessarily the cpu pump speed. And technically Fan Control is free but I urge people to donate to the author.

It's the length of a sitcom episode, sans commercials. Almost 1/32 of a person's waking hours in a day. For 5 apps. It's too long. If you make two tighter 12-minute videos (maybe cover another app for symmetry) you have more content and it's more digestible. Probably better for your algorithm as well.

@fragalot3 ай бұрын
The brilliant thing about Fan Control is you can set up fan curves based on ANY temperature sensor. Like your GPU hot spot can cause your case fans to spun up faster if you wanted to. You can do something stupid like speed up your GPU fans based on CPU temps. You can do anything, you're not limited to just your GPU fans being controlled by your video card since those devices already have their own fan curves you can edit (in around about way). The only drawback to this app is it it doesn't automatically label what fans or what. But you can play with these settings so you can identify which fan you're controlling so you can properly name it. But you'll need direct access to your PC guts to be able to identify them. So this is mostly geared towards system builders and enthusiasts. Not for someone running an OEM PC playing solitaire all day.
@JK_923 ай бұрын
This is one of the main reasons for why I use FanControl, it makes sense for my case fans to ramp up when my GPU is under heavy load even while CPU isn't. FanControl lets you do just that, as you mentioned, by linking together any single or multiple sensors, with any of the fans in your PC. I always recommend it to anyone when talking about temps or fan curves, it's such a great app!

Wanted to add my favorite - WinAero Tweaker, can be installed as a portable application and gives easy access to dozens of registry tweaks. Disable driver updates? Yup. Disables Windows Telemetry? Also you need to use DDU before you install driver package created by NVCleanstall, if you have the stock drivers already installed from Nvidia. Because it won't remove the crapware/telemetry already present from the old stock drivers even if you choose "perform a clean install." So you must reboot into safe mode, run DDU remove the stock Nvidia drivers completely, then reboot (offline do windows doesn't install drivers) and install the driver package you created with NVCleanstall. Once you've used DDU once like this you shouldn't need to do it again as long as you keep using NVCleanstall to rebuild your driver packages. I also do not click the "install button" I instead open the temp folder NVCleanstall created and copy it off somewhere (USB stick or NAS), then I can take that folder and use it on other computers and install it on those PCs after I've use DDU.

These sound great. This did get me thinking, maybe the reason Microsoft created the 'show more options' bundle in their win11 context menu was simply to prevent cluttering it up. Just to keep it clean. But trust me, I understand the frustration though, highly annoying when you simply wish to use 'open with' and the option is hidden Update: Downloaded and currently playing with PC Manager. Now the link in the description I guess is for a newer version because the download button is disabled with a 'Coming Soon' label. HOWEVER, it is available on the Microsoft Store. I strongly prefer the centered Taskbar on Windows 11. In fact, I went back to my Windows 10 computer and emulated the Windows 11 Taskbar there as well. The centered Taskbar means you don't have to work constantly to the left. Everything is right there in front of you. I also put an off button on the Taskbar and with a few learned changes you can do about anything with the new Taskbar that you could with the old. With my old Windows 10 computer I used Quick Launch so they were very similar. I also like the the two finger activation of the Task Settings as well. What I don't like is the new File Explorer. Everything is engineered to direct you to use OneDrive. From setup to every keystroke in File Explorer it causes you to be intertwined with OneDrive. Microsoft wants your money and your privacy and they'll do anything to get it. They don't want you to make file changes because it hurts their ability to control OneDrive. I haven't removed it yet but I've turned it off and am waiting to see what they do with the next several changes. I believe what they are doing is not legal and they should be prevented from forcing use of it during setup. I bought a Lenovo computer that had a problem and sent it back. I bought a replacement and in the two weeks between having the computers Microsoft changed the setup options. I couldn't use any of the standard options to bypass OneDrive on the second computer but did have other selectable options I didn't have before. I basically stopped OneDrive as soon as I could then turned it off and auto returned all uploaded files back to the computer. I also stopped all sync options on my old systems before installation. People watching this channel may have a better way to do it. I wanted to keep it simple and direct. It worked for me. Once OneDrive is turned off you can still backup selected files direct to the cloud without turning on OneDrive - 5 GIG. I also use Google Drive (slides, sheets, docs, etc.) on my desktop and load that after everything else. If you use OneDrive, files from Google Drive will also load to the cloud via OneDrive unless you rework file locations.

I'm no fan of one drive or the cloud for many reasons, like pricing and privacy etc. I also don't use it but my understanding is it can't be disabled. I do have my fair share of external drives that I use to make complete OS backups of my hard drive. My old HP with win 10 started to take a dump on me I was fortunate to get my data. Now I have new cyperpower pc. with Win11 and I hate the file explorer structure and it's lack of tasks and hidden options. . I'm in the process of trying to find a program that over lays File Explorer with a win 10 environment. Any how I'm just relating/commiserating with you.

The more programs you use, the more you offer stability and security. If Windows is so broken, you should think about moving away from it. I use both Windows and Linux on 2 computers for different purposes, so yeah, I do get it. KDE is so wonderful to use compared to Windows 11!

You should do one of programs that allow to tinker with audio and mixer settings. The current ones in Windows 11 kind of suck.

Hi Rich, would you happen to know a fix to this niggling Windows problem? An update sometime back, I think it was 22H2, broke the extremely handy File Explorer "inline autocomplete" feature. Something I loved and have used since way back since WinXP. I've never found a way to restore it and don't understand why Microsoft never fixed it. Would love your thoughts. Surely I'm not the only one out there who used this feature? (I tried Explorer Patcher, unfortunately no cigar)

Im new to your channel and im liking your vids. Could you figure a way to make google chrome look like IE with out using the extension IE Tab. I miss IE now that its been disabled.

If we already have our fans setup with curves in the UEFI, tied to the CPU, do we need to disable that and set a manual speed, to use Fan Control? I'm asking if the UEFI will conflict with the software.
@TheCgOrion3 ай бұрын
So far Fan Control takes priority from anything set in the UEFI. I'm leaving it setup the way it was, in case I'm in another OS, or the software isn't running. It's working beautifully to increase case fans for the CPU or GPU. It's even running the GPU fan curve. You can do very elaborate configs.

Please provide a detailed description of your system. Include type of case, # of drives, CPU, power, etc. I'm asking because I will soon need to replace my non-win 11 compliant tower computer. Thanks

I recently upgraded to win 11. I did a clean install of 11 in a stripped-down version for gaming. It's awesome I don't have all the bloat and other unnecessary junk, but I feel like it's not letting me run my system at full potential. I have a high-end machine, and I know all too well what it can do. My machine ran great on 10. I regret installing 11. But it seems like it's getting a lttle better with the updates but still not as good as it ran in 10. Could you maybe tell me a few pointers or maybe do a video on it please. Oh yeah, I can't even overclock my ps5 controller like I could using 10.

Is it sad that one of the talking points about PC Manager is that you don’t need a Microsoft login for it? That’s what we’ve come to expect, so something that doesn’t need it is actually noteworthy…

Those with older Laptop Nivida drivers will like this as it's harder to find those.

I use Fences 3 to create true windows 2.1 look but better than any windows. the are auto hide and all I have to do is roll over to them and I can choose any icon to execute. games, apps, tools. I love Fences on steam, also wallpaper engine. these are the must have enhancements for windows 11. It should be the Original windows feature option for windows 11

I simply dont understand those people who uses the explorer or the menu app that makes it to the wondoes 10 layout. We have to embrace changes and the changes is not bad. Its polished and fit the modern view. Its like buying a new phone and using ios 5 or android 5 just because they dont want to embrace the changes

From someone on youtube giving all kinds of tech advice on computers, he should know that deleting a registry key cannot and will not render a computer unfixable! All it could possibly do at worst is to render that install of windows unfixable. A reinstall of windows on a reformatted drive and bam back up and running! I sure hope he doesn't say such bold faced lies to customers!
@mebobtheone3 ай бұрын
I agree a complete OS Backup is a must. But that isn't always a 100% slam dunk as there can be reinstalling issues etc. As to "The bold faced lies" he as always taking care to always express "in my opinion". I'm not hearing the man saying "this is the hard gospel."

Microsoft PC Manager seems to be no longer available. 😞 Not on the Store and instead of download, you have coming soon on the website.
@kosbos19853 ай бұрын
Well Microsoft PC Manager is not available, at least in Eastern Europe. Fan Control is nice, but I prefer my MSI Center - they are really putting an effort to give fan control options natively and I always like to use the vendor's software as much as possible. They still have a long way to catch up with Fan Controlo though, which in some cases might be glitchy though. Classic menu - I think the app is useless for most of the admins - you just type one line to add a registry on cmd and script the s**t out of it - voilá :)

As I use both windows 10/11 and Debian linux in dual-boot mode, I miss some useful features of Gnome linux desktop, like automatically center any window that we open or an app or the windows OS open. Also the terminal app where you can write CLI commands, they keep a history of them and you can easily recall them, something unavailable in windows. It seems windows is now introducing the sudo command in windows ...

Most of these exept Fan Control are mostly cosmetic. However, Fan Control is the true must have and literally a godsend for any pc gamer. It is free and powerful but like someone else mentioned in the comments... it is so great I felt guilty maybe for the first time using any pc soft and not donating (multiple times even 5 or 10 euro).
