Can the batteries be charged off the camper? Can you make it so that the batteries are swappable which would mean you can go a lot further between charges? If you could make the key parts of the camper upgradeable like the FUELL Fllow (battery, chargers, and motor, that would be awesome. I ordered the FUELL Flluid 2, so this would compliment that and I also ordered a Fllow which also would be great with this. How much does the camper weigh?
@Jerbrown7 ай бұрын
The battery can be partially charged by the camper solar panels. The battery is in the bike, so you can use whatever you want to tow (guide) it, including the Fllow. It’s 450 lbs.

As cool as this is where I live I see it as a major problem. 2 lane country roads with no shoulders for cyclists is bad enough especially where i live with a ton of blind corners. The definitely would cause traffic jams. Unless it can maintain the posted speeds. If it could do that then that would work. We just have a major problem with cyclists where we are and visit in large groups.
@Jerbrown9 ай бұрын
Yeah, fair point. I’ve been able to avoid slowing down traffic for the most part by maintaining the speed (or close to it) of posted limits which, in the USA and Canada, are often around 35mph/55kmph. And then if I know I’m holding up traffic I’ll pull over to let it go by. But yes, without shoulder you’d have to keep the speed up and choose routes/time of day carefully. Where do you live? Cheers

Yeah, trying to play Elon fan with your build and association of your build with the cyber truck fiasco was probably not the brightest idea. Though that is a damn heavy touring bike/trailer combo especially if it needs 10 kwh to go 130 miles. Well built though unlike the truck. Your battery has to be well over 130 pounds alone, the bike you chose is also a super heavy beast, you have never actually done any cycle touring prior to when you decoded to build this had you?
@Jerbrown4 ай бұрын
Battery is about 100 lbs. It’s the lightest I could make it while fitting all my criteria. I did a tour to Newfoundland from Toronto, and that’s when I thought through what I wanted in a bike camper.
@acroduster4 ай бұрын
@@Jerbrown I thought I was crazy at 2.2kwh on my touring recumbent, I can cover the same distance easily. Though if anything happens pedaling is still an option for my weight class. I have to know what's the bike weigh? And what's road ready travel weight? How far could you pedal it if you had to? My bike is like 50 to 55 pounds stripped down to just one kwh of battery and no cargo or rider, also have you ever considered the size of the fire should that battery go critical fail? The funny thing is I have a 48 volt burden carrier and it only has a few hundred watt hours more.

Was trying to ask on your current vid but the comment section was off so here it is, Y did you go with smaller tires on the camper as opposed to tires that's on the bike
@Jerbrown8 ай бұрын
Hi. Just to clarify, do you mean why did I not use 26 inch wheels on the camper? if that’s your question, the reason is that I wanted a lower centre of gravity, and a smaller wheel helps achieve that. It also reduces the loss in internal cabin space created by the wheel wells.

Well, Thomas, all I can say is I’m ripping down the eastern seaboard like a Barracuda and there hasn’t been a Bollard that could stop me yet. YRMV! :)
@relicgamer21379 ай бұрын
I wondered about this myself. I live on an island and every road is 2 lane and the cyclists already cause issues because there isn't a large shoulder or bike path. Many don't ride in a single file position but side by side. This causes issues because the roads have a ton of blind corners. This thing would be a nightmare for drivers to get around. Especially when a ferry boat unloads a bunch of cars and commercial trucks.

I seriously don't get the appeal of this, vs a tent. It seems that the incremental comfort benefits of the camper are far outweighted by the cost and hassle of dealing with a massive, heavy camper. I would rather ditch that camper and carry my gear on the bike frame, or even using a lightweight unpowered trailer for extra gear.
@Jerbrown9 ай бұрын
Then do that, Dr Schlitz. Different strokes for different folks. I’ve done it your way. This way prioritizes comfort for those of us who want to get off the ground. Definitely not for everyone..
@Dr.Schlitz9 ай бұрын

@@Dr.SchlitzYo , I'm building a trailer to act as a tent platform and for accommoding a portable head . I'm tarping the trailer for atmospheric /radiation protection . Towing recumbent trike is 3 wheel drive , 2 electric and one pedal wheel . On a sunny day the solar panels alone power the trike , on the level . Going uphill I can pedal along . Going downhill the regenerative braking current is about 8 amps at 18 vdc peak . I need to install two 12v coolers to absorb energy . An electric cable is available to auto shut off at 12.5 v and come back on above 12.5 v .
