"Dear Abby" is scary only if you look at it from the crazy guy's end, if you stop and think about it rationally, she's not as doomed as he thinks. He's dead, she's alive, he can't stop her from making an escape, banging on the door, and/or calling for help. He can't call anyone to tell them that Abby is 'fine,' so people will notice she's missing, police will look for her, and he may think he's slick, but he left a trail. At most, she may spend three to five days in that unit, since it's not that complicated of a case, and a human can last seven days without water. If she's not hindered by the gross factor, she can drink the lunatic's blood before it congeals, giving her a little bit of extra fluid as well; same goes for eating his flesh so she won't starve. He thinks he's won, but really, he's just turned himself into a long pig for a scared woman until she's rescued and his body will be burned or buried by the morgue. The only person he doomed was himself. : )

I love how some of these “Creepypastas” are just remixes of or exactly the same as the “Scary Stories” my friends and I would tell as kids. That not sarcastic either, I really love it! It shows people don’t really change, and there’s just this innate desire to scare yourself and others with you. If the story works, it gets picked up and passed around through the years. A generational game of telephone. Edit: I also realized why it makes sense that what we know of some parts of early history, before written language, when it eventually did get written down can vary widely between authors (even describing the exact same event) or even has just some plain nonsensical parts. Oral history was less like a linear game of telephone and more like a game of conference calls. Where each hub of telephone lines would pick a single line to send out to another hub of telephone lines, who would send it around all the different lines in their hub, then they would pick a line and send it off to the next hub. Creepypastas are just one example showing how that tradition remains alive in humans thousands of years later. For a more modern example, oral history/culture spread like a virus. Passing from person to person, group to group, with mutations to the virus popping up along the way. Those mutations will grow and spread the same way. Language, oral history, memes, they all have similar ways of spreading now that I think about it.
