I just passed my Juniper JNCIA-JUNOS exam! This is part of my Juniper Networks Associate certificate challenge I had laid out in a previous video. I'm planning to go after all 5 of the certs. The Juniper JNCIA-SEC cert is up next. Here I provide a review of the study content, the layout of the exam and the testing from home experience with Pearson Vue. Juniper Networks provides great resources for training, studying, virtual labs, and free exam vouchers. These certifications include the JNCIA-Junos (focused on routing and switching), JNCIA-SEC, JNCIA-Cloud, JNCIA-DevOps, and JNCDA (focused on design). I'm starting with the JNCIA-Junos, have posted two study exam live walkthroughs, and recently passed the test to get a free exam voucher. Thanks for the clarification on the practice exams vs the actual exam. I was reading on r/juniper that the practice exams were nothing like the actual exam. You are saying something completely different. These comment threads were also from 2-3 years ago though, maybe Juniper has changed their methods since then? I see you posted this video in 2020 so that's comforting. I scored in the high 70s-low 80s on the multiple practice exams junos offered in the Genius program. I have a solid understanding of what Junos wants me to grasp. So you think I will pass then? (Also I have no Route/Switch experience only what I've taught myself online, I'm in the personal computer repair field looking to get into networking.)
@CYBERINSIGHT4 жыл бұрын
I thought they were pretty similar and the tests did a good job preparing you. There the stuff that is straight up memorization (differences between control plane and data plane). And then there are things where you just need to understand the concept and apply it to questions (how to read the firewall filters). I do the tests until I only miss one or two questions and I make sue I know why I missed the ones I did.

Hey man, I really appreciate the insights. Am planning to take this exam next month and I wonder if there were simulation questions like CCNA. Should I noddle around with packet tracer for Junos, if any?
@CYBERINSIGHT4 жыл бұрын
Nope, don't need to worry about simulations, there are none in the JNCIA-JUNOS exam. If you aren't familiar with it from a hands on perspective, I would HIGHLY recommend using the vLABS(which is free and I put a link in the description). Good luck on the exam!

Congrats! btw did you do a lot of labbing? What virtual lab woudl you recommend? Thank you!
@CYBERINSIGHT4 жыл бұрын
Doing labs are going to be important here if you haven't used Juniper before. For myself, I've been using them for about 10 years, so I didn't need to do any labs. That being said, if I didn't have that experience, I would do the labs that are part of the free training on the Junos Genius website, and I would do them in Juniper free VLabs environment. I covered both of those in the certification challenge video, but the links for both are in the description for this video.

How long did it take to study before you wrote your exam?
@CYBERINSIGHT2 жыл бұрын
I think a few months. But I had been using Juniper for like 8 years. So nothing I was learning was new per se. It was more so getting familiar with their questions. The practice tests are very good samples of what the real exams are.

how long did it take you to study? I am not sure how long i need to give myself before I book my exam

I'd say part of that is how comfortable you are with Juniper and how well you did on the practice and voucher exam tests. I probably took a few weeks more studying after I finished the training to do the practice tests and go over the stuff I was getting wrong.

What if I passed the voucher exam in first attempt? Should I use my 2 attempts too? Or wait for the email? And what is the meaning of this message? "A “Completed” voucher assessment test does not necessarily mean that you passed the test, and you must pass the voucher assessment test to earn the voucher."? Sorry, I just confused.
@CYBERINSIGHT4 жыл бұрын
There is a button to push on the page when it pops up saying you passed the voucher exam. You need to press that to send the voucher, or you won't receive it. You can contact Juniper Certify on twitter to get that resolved if you didn't get the voucher in your email yet. You can take the other 2 attempts if you want, I did that in preparation after I got the voucher. The comment about passing the voucher exam, was just me stating that passing the voucher exam doesn't mean that you earned the certification. You still have to take the actual certification exam.

Nice! Congrats! How long does it take to learn and pass the JNCIA Junos? I might postpone CompTIA Security+ to increase my networking skills. Prior to that I only studied the material of CompTIA Network+ in preparation for the Security+ due to budget restrictions. Then this came! Subbed!
@CYBERINSIGHT4 жыл бұрын
I'm going to say that the JNCIA-Junos does take a bit of understanding of networking. And if you've never used Juniper before, I wouldn't try to rush right through it. Luckily the training/labs are free and you should be able to see how you feel with that content. They also have some networking foundations courses too for free, if you feel you need to brush up on the Net+ information. I would also recommend looking at the JNCDA cert, which is one of the 5 associate level certs. This one is all about architecture and design. There is no commands involved in it(while the JUNOS one is heavy command wise). It is 85% agnostic and deals with how to design and implement networking projects. It is quite excellent. I have some videos on test walk throughs and study tips for that as well.
