Very helpful. I was losing my mind trying to figure out how to make a title duration shorter... and all I had to do was click and drag the edge of it to make it shorter. haha. Tutorials can be humbling.

None of this comes naturally to me, but I have to learn it and the tutorials that came with powerdirector are too small and wayyyyy too fast for a beginner, so thank you. Watching title one next.

One thing I've found most helpful is an editors ability to project to a large screen TV or monitor to view the actual video that is playing in the time line while still watching the time line on the computer screen or monitor. You miss so many things that are wrong on the little panel in the right hand upper corner of a laptop. Does PD 17 have this capability ... Thanks great tutorial just better if you would slow down and let the neophyte actually digest what your doing. Unless this is just another commercial. Anyway Just subscribed ... P.S. I've used Premiere since 1996 and finally got fed up with their BS.

PD17 is definitely a more worthwhile upgrade than PD16 was (in my opinion), although there are still some basic things missing that I wish they had added, such as the ability to rotate PiP objects by an arbitrary point _other than the center,_ or very simple shape drawing in the Paint Designer (or elsewhere) such as circles, squares and lines. That being said, the Mask Designer FINALLY allows you to make masks... WITHIN the program itself! Yay! Been asking for this one for YEARS! It's implemented as a paint tool, but it's a start (makes it very difficult to modify over time to follow a character or scene element, and keyframes are pretty much out the window).

@@ar2518 Nope. Currently you can only rotate PiP objects by the center. If you want to rotate something by, say, one of the corners it is a giant pain in the butt, whereas if you could just simply move the rotation "anchor" to wherever you want it would be easy as pie.

3 Quick questions does Power Director 17 ANY Version have a Automate to Time Line like Adobe Premiere where I can set markers to the beat of the music and the program will insert the next clip or still in the Que at the next marker? How about the slide show creator does it do the KEN BURNS Effect with stills? Third can PD 17 also Project what the time line is playing to a Large Monitor thru thru the HDMI or Turbo port while watching the time line progress on the regular computer monitor

Hi,I get the error,the visual c++ is not well installed.when I try to install the powerdirector from the applicationmanager. .Although when I look in the programs I see that is installed.They told me to deinstalle it,reboot and then install it from microsoft page.I did this,Then from my account I downloaded again the application manager but again gives me this error!!What to do please?Otherwise I'll ask to be reimbursed..Thank you

I just want my Windows Movie Maker, because it stopped working, and windows no longer supports it. These fancy editors are way too much fooling around. It's frustrating. I edit hours of content to try to make usable content in a 15 minute video. It would take days screwing around with this foolery for one video. Do you have any suggestions for something simple, and fast like Movie Maker? I don't like anything I have found. For what I do, this will not make better videos than Movie Maker. I don't need music, and eye candy. It gets in the way, and distracts. 1080p/30fps, and my work is all I need.

For something so fast, Premiere Elements is the most recommended option. PowerDirector is already advanced for basic usage, unless you want to jump to a more complete video editing experience.

I'm not sure. I downloaded the free version and hoped to come here to see how the program works before I downloaded the paid program. As a beginner this video taught me nothing. Thank you. Great help, really! I usually get drone footages of 20 min. ca. each. Then I select many 5-12 seconds parts (cut with VLC) which I’d like to edit to produce a 70-90 secs pro footage. Can I go on with Powerdirector 17 on your opinion ? And for cutting the small pieces is VLC any good?

Helo sir I just capture movie through power director 18 capture size are fine quality with following spec: 720 X 480 with 29 FPS but when i edit those such movie and cut useless scenes then when i produce with trying all output setting but i got this resolution 720 X 576 with 25 FPS i noted movie size are nearly 2 inch less horizontal or vertically pls advice that what i do for get same size of movie who are in my raw capture resolution who are good..i dont know why size are nearly 2 inches reduce (horizontal or vertical)

"Can I have 2 diffewnt videos side bye side"...I presume you speak about picture in picture or split screen? If both cases then yes, can all be done. Either manually with keyframes or designed by the program itself.

Thank you for the great tutorial. I’ve been having a problem with my Power Director program. When I get to the point to Produce, choose online, click You Tube then fill in all the blank spaces, the next step is clicking “START” then the next page comes up, AUTHORIZATION FROM TO ALLOW CYBERLINK TO UPLOAD MY VIDEO TO YOU TUBE. The next page is the YOU TUBE AUTHORIZATION PAGE where you need to sign in to YOU TUBE. In my programs this page remains white with the Buffer going round and round. I never get to sign into You Tube. I’ve contacted CyberLink and we are going back and forth for over a week now with no end in site. Can you tell me what it wrong with my program.

The KZbin uploading is rapidly changing and is using the 'Studio' version by default. Just wondering if CyberLink knows it and has adapted the software towards this.. for sure PD17 may be already too old for this update.

It is quite annoying when you are working on the edit and that small white window constantly popping on at each and every move, there must be a way to stop thins. 360 still does not convert stitched 360 it must be already stitched to work? there looks like small improvements then big ones from 16 to 17.

Erst mal mein Haupt-Anliegen, - HEVC - H.265, in FHD-50p Pro = hoher Datenrate, produziert nicht ! Habe jetzt wieder einen kostspieligen Fehler mit Cyber Link Power Director 17 - Kauf gemacht, weil hier von den Testern auf oben erwähnte Frage, keine Antwort kam. Gestern habe ich den Test mit der "PD-17-365" - Version gewagt und bin "bitter" enttäuscht, weil H.265, alle Formate, wie FHD oder UHD "nur" in 25p ausgegeben werden können. Wieder "Lehrgeld" bezahlt, wo doch "gerade hier" Power Director 17 fast zur Profi - Software stilisiert wird...? Ich suche Software die in der Lage ist H.265 - 50p nicht nur zu schneiden, sondern auch H.265 - 50p HEVC aus zu geben, zu speichern, zu extrahieren, zu produzieren. - ?

In several manners: 1. reduce the frame rate 2) reduce the video size 3) reduce the video quality (lower bit rate) 4. use another video format which is more compressed, such as mp4.
