Not a financially stable job and winning a lot of money do not happen often. Few elite hunters can make six figures a year, but considering that almost all cybersecurity professionals earn that much in 5-10 years automatically and do not have to be the "few elite" makes full-time bug bounty hunting a less lucrative job. However, this is a field where you can be free from the corporate 9-6 life and do what you truly love. It might not be as glamorous as shown in this video, but it is definitely a very cool job.

Absolutely, a good strategy would be having a mixture of both (stable job, unstable side-hustle) eventually moving to the other side where we have growing wealth (owned business, portfolio of investments) without having a single point of failure to financial security Time, energy, and focus are critical to make that happen. Bug bounties didn't "evolve" from Facebook. All companies were doing it since the 80s. Microsoft were doing it all through the late 90s and I remember a lot of us making money for finding simple bugs.
