The lyrics are in the end about V and Johnny, particularly in the verse where its a canvas of 2 angels who loved and lost, but in the end has to pay the cost because one of them had to die. Then there's also "that one thing that changed it all. That one sin that caused the fall" particularly referring to when V stormed the arasaka building and got the ticking time bomb in his head, along with Johnny of course.

Maybe if Jackie got more screen time instead of the game rushing you to dex so you can get kea- I mean Johnny in your head right away (think that 6 month montage) maybe the game would have more healthy debate over what is the “good ending”. If people cared as much about Jackie as CDPR expects us to then there would be more reason (other than it just being cool) to go for the V becomes legend ending. Since it’s initially Jackie’s idea to become afterlife legends, and V just kinda rolls with it (at least in the beginning). Without so much attachment to Jackie it’s harder to justify not going with the aldecaldos since it’s the “happy” ending for V.

SPOILERS AHEAD YOU'VE BEEN WARNED Hearing this after doing The Devil ending really messed with me. I just felt like V after he/she got rid of the relic: empty. Especially when I chose the 'secure your soul' option. Whole game you're against Arasaka, for killing Jackie, for all the things Johhny showed you, seeing how they don't care that Yorinobu killed his dad. And then you're there in their orbital hospital or whatever, trying to recover from the damage the relic did, not being able to solve the damn cube. Everytime you wake up the news is on and you see how nothing has changed, Saboru is now in the body of Yorinobu and basically back, and Yorinobu's whole plan of trying to change the Arasaka Corp just fell through. You hear Johhny's voice from time to time, hoping to see him somewhere, only to then remember you got rid of him. You have to do the same damn tests over and over again, solve the cube, walk on the treadmill, name first thing that comes to mind, "you're walking in a cornfield," over and over and over again, until after what looks like weeks or months you finally finish the cube (or smash it). And then Takemura (or Hellman if you didn't save Goro) shows up and tells you that you've been there for days, not weeks or months, but days. And then comes the worst news, you aren't cured, and you only have a couple of months to live. You then get the choice of either going back to NC to live out your final days, or "live forever" with the Secure Your Soul program, the thing Johnny told you a lot about and how it isn't that nice. Then the human in you speaks up and you chose to "live" and you sign away your rights. Walking to the lab and asking the guard what he would say to the person walking to their greatest foe's jail to save their life, for him to then say "do not forget the way home" makes you realise how far gone you are, because at that point you don't remember the way home. To then lie down on the chair, putting on the 'lucky charm bullet' you got at the beginning of the game, closing your eyes for then the next thing you see being the vastness and emptiness of space. Then the credits start rolling and having all the people you've met throughout the game call you, asking where and how you are, and then asking to call them back when you have the chance. But you don't have the chance, not anymore, and if you ever do get a new body that will be so far in the future that everybody you knew is either gone or have forgotten about you. The game might be buggy, but it sure knows how to punch you in gut.

You actually were never against Arasaka in the main plot. V's purpose has always been to make it big in Night City, and once they started dying from the chip, their purpose became one of survival Sure you shoot a few of them every now and then, but they are just obstacles in your jobs, just like any other scav, Animal, Militech grunt etc. I got the Devil ending as well, and personally I felt that I got the most practical and realistic ending possible -- it's not a happy one, but it's one that I would want to achieve over and over again

Cyberpunk 2077's story really helped me in a very dark time when I had depression over life and death and has an existential crisis, I tried looking for influence and inspiration to get through it, but really aside from my parents nothing was helping and I felt like I would be in this pit of despair forever. Cyberpunk took me out of the hole, having gotten the Panam ending was very important to me, it felt like V accepted that death was only important because life was worth living rather than death being nothing and simply an end. It's an end to a lot of things, but it's never an end to your everlasting story that while the world might not remember, did happen and was important it did so. Doing so much better now, I really get a little upset here and there and feel like everyone should just get over themselves and learn to love life and live it with one another and live it to help others like all good things in the world have said constantly.

@@smoker5989 if you look past the glitches (of which I luckily haven’t encountered any game breaking ones) it is an amazing game. The gameplay, characters, story and even the little side quests are greater than most other games.

As a game? Not it isn't... At all. The story? Yes. And you're letting the AMAZING story blind your judgement about the LACK LUSTER GAME that surrounds it. You can't just ignore the MANY issues this game has. To be clear, I do NOT blame the devs of cyberpunk. In fact, I feel SO SO bad for them. They could have done a masterpiece game, but sadly GREED of the execs and shareholders meant they had to rush the game at least one year early (If not two years honest). Were they given the time to work they magic, I have no doubt the main issues (some which CAN NO LONGER be fixed) would not be present. But sadly, they are. This isn't a movie. It's a game. So you can't call it a master piece based in the story and characters alone. The game (to this day) is FULL of bugs. The combat is serviceable, it does its job, but it's anything but groundbreaking. The quest system and open world is your typical "Far Cry" experience. Act 1 and 3 were amazing. Act 2 has good moments but overall this is where the game shows a LOT of cracks. The open world content went from terrible to "average" with 1.6. But most importantly is the story quests that have NO connection to one an other at all. They exist in their own little bubble. Just quests you play to "Unlock a choice" to the ending you want at the final act. This means the game has ZERO replayability value. Because essentially, all you have to do is complete all the main quests, Unlock all ending options. And VOILA, you have ALL the ending to chose from in the final act. This makes the build up to the final extremely unsatisfying as the ending feel less like "Consequences to your choices and decision" and are reduced to "a to do list". During act 2 you can "Pick a side" or "pick a path". You just do most or all done. Then Act 3 kicks in and you have a "choose your preferred ending" option. Because of it is, it is made VERY clear that it's not your decision that matter in Act 2 (Only exception is the secret ending), but how much of the "to do list" you've completed. There is no point making a new V (unless you just want to try a different class) because once you have completed the game, you have seen ALL the ending in one play through. Your choices DO NOT matter. What matters is how much of "completionist" you are to see all the endings. So as an RPG, this game absolutely drops the ball. And boy does it drop it hard. It's not like Elden rings for example where your decision LOCK you in a specific path and ending, you can't go back. Which encourages you to do a new gameplay or create a new character to change your decisions and see what different ending you can get. This is impossible in Cyberpunk 2077 and it is VERY clear that this is result of the game being rushed out the door. As you can cleary tell that each act had a "Corpo", "Street kid", "Nomad" path. The problem is, none of these were glued together well. If you enjoy the game like a "movie" (Just focus on the characters and story and filter out the "game outside of the graphics and music), then yes it is AMAZING. Too bad the actual game is simply NO MATCH for the amazing story it tells. This is cleary not the game the devs wanted to deliver us. If they were given two more years, this game COULD have been a master piece. No doubt. But now it will never be. Because the executives do what they do best: They fucked everything up. It's shame really. Cause NO PATCH will fix the ACT 2 problem. Its backed in the game now. My only hope is that the ONE expansion we'll get will actually deliver "what could have been". Not just as a story, but as a game. Because a master piece this game SHOULD have been (Story, world, music... All of these were perfect, not the rest). But it is not.

Cyberpunk has a lot of technical issues but it is an amazing experience of story and character. I’m not ashamed to say that I think the game surpasses The Witcher 3 in almost every way for me. I had so much more fun playing this game and fell in love with the characters.

Never fade away is a phrase that has an unexpected impact in my resent life... the plot in this game, about transcending the walls between life and death, about making an impact in the world, about not dying, even if its in a symbolic way, Johnny wanting to stay alive even tho he knows he "can't"... I was born with a heart disease, I had surgery at 3yo and recently my doctor told me that my heart is getting bigger, that my heart has a failure that it won't recede and will be getting bigger and bigger over the years and I'm so afraid. My great grandmother died of a heart failure at a young age and I'm so afraid that maybe I will be heading to the same destiny. I know probably no one will read this and actually is not my intention, I just wanted to get this out of my chest cause I don't have anyone to talk about this... I sure don't want to fade away, I will never fade away.

As much as I love that song I honestly can even say it's not even the most depressing song in Edgerunners (if you've watched the video for Let You Down, you'll probably see why that song is far more depressing). Yup, true. Especially if you compare today's version with that seen at launch. Its like comparing night and day. The story has its ups and downs, it underdelivered on what was promised, and some bugs that were there at launch still occur, but overall its just an incredible piece of art. And over 1.5 years after launch it went from a late Picasso (seriously tho dude what the duck was he smoking) to a Van Gogh.

If you like the story vib were your actions seal your ending. I would say RDR2 and the Mass effect Trilogy. But honestly RDR2 and Cyberpunk 2077 have left impression on me from the character development and love the designers put into parts of the story. RDR2 was truly the first game I played in recent years that made me feel like I've lived a life through another human followed by Cyberpunk.

@@EonAzure tbh... V's character development wasn't very good, but it was Johnny's character development that was done really well along with Judy and Panam. V's character is just a bit empty and the character choices are limited, those choices don't impact the game too much. The music in Cyberpunks story plays a big part of how it really feels, when I played it, it felt like a really good story, but I felt that it could've been much much longer.

I don't know if the Devs or even Mike himself will ever see this. But hell this series that he and the team at CPDR that worked on this game and world will stick with me for a very long time. It might not be popular with my friends or close relatives and will probably never get an opportunity to speak about this in real world so passionately. I read the short story "Never Fady Away" from the 2020 rulebook while I was baker acted into a mental ward for a suicide attempt after a bad break-up, completely went psycho. I looked for an escape, a place where I could be myself mentally cause I felt trapped regardless of whether I was in the ward or out it. Night City was that place, the NUSA was the image of the US in my head at the time, just a despotic capitalist hell scape, just without the chrome. Just stayed there reading a getting lost in this world that Mike and his team created was just wild and I just wanted more, so I eagerly waited and keeped struggling with my depression and so the game comes out, yes it was super buggy and not the experience that everyone was hoping for, hell it wasn't even the experience I was hoping for but once I got to that end credits, I just felt relief that I finished and walked away with absolutely unforgettable experience and more so when I went back and choose the suicide ending, those video messages just made my heart drop and flung myself back to my small cold bed, fenced window, crying my eyes out, feeling like I failed the whole world and then realized that I need to keep going for my chooms who are rooting for me, never stop fighting, even when I want to give up. I still struggle with that trauma but I will keep going, I have a promise to keep to some crazy rockerboy. Never Fade Away, and Never Stop Fighting

I still remember people shitting on a new vegas because it released half-baked and with a lot of bugs. Now its iconic and legendary. People will come around for Cyberpunk. Its still a techinical marvel and one of the best games ever
