Perhaps the dancing/drinking robots and the card-playing robots are proxies of some sort? Maybe some well-off people want to live out the "meet-up in a seedy motel" thing without actually endangering themselves. One of the things I like about these various gigs, is how they can subtly inform us on the fixers as well. Like with Family Matters. El Capitan initially tells us about the gig related to the data, but if you pay attention, he asks us about Juliet first. He says "hey i got this contact Juliet who was supposed to get me some data, but she went dark. Check on her for me will ya? Oh and uh....don't forget the data." Which I find interesting. The objective is "find the data" but HE asks us to check on her first. This happens a lot with Capitan and also Dino, that the context of what they are asking you to do, illustrates that they are fairly empathetic dudes, who don't want to hurt people. The missions themselves are either fairly altruistic or they hint at a more human/empathetic motivation for the gig, like Family Matters. Or with the case of Dino, it's the fact that most of his gigs have the "don't cause a mess" optional objective to them. He is WAY happier with you, if you can get in and out of his jobs without making it a chaotic bloodbath. And there is an NCPD event where you find a data shard conversation between Dino and a guy (now sadly a corpse), that shows how generous Dino is. The guy is another runner for Dino, from a job that went bad, and he's asking Dino for help, because the corpos are now after him. And Dino gives him the coords for one of his safe houses to try and keep the guy alive, and even says "I OFFERED you some backup on this gig, but you declined." He didn't ask for money, or a reduction in the runner's cut for the gig. He just got the message the guy was in trouble, and risked exposing one of his safe houses to the corpos to try and save him. Which I think is just some really good storytelling for these npcs, making them more than just missions dispensaries.

Someone probably mentioned this already but the "hospital" you save Jasmine from is also where Gloria is taken after the accident in Edgerunners. Raises some questions as to whether Gloria really just died from her injuries.

CDPR shared pre-release art and area builds with Trigger so the studio could make everything match visually with the game. They didn't put restrictions on how or where Trigger had to use the designs. It's rumored that the hospital build was going to play a larger role in more missions (for example as a place where cyberpsychos you saved are sent and you could visit later), but that content was eventually cut / not further developed.

I agree, megabuildings are so cool and kinda underutilized in game, I hope we get some more missions in them with PL. Sometimes I just chill outside V's MB10 apartment and I just look across the chasm at all the doors and windows and imagine the stories happening behind each. I also love how it can be the middle of the afternoon yet inside the building it looks like night because they're so huge the block out the sun.

You could literally have an entire game take place within a mega building. Different floors have different levels of affluence, ones like V's place, with trash everywhere, people living in the corridors all the way up to the penthouses at the top. Gang wars, personal problems different, shops and services. Kind of a mix of 2077 and Dredd 2013.

I don't know if I agree with the sentiment that megabuildings are underutilized in this game. First, V lives in H10, so we get a pretty good look at what one floor of a megabuilding is like, with apartments, stores/cafes, a crime scene, even a gym (even if most of them are not interactable). Then we also have that entire Clouds sub-plot with multiple missions taking place in H8, which again gives us a good look at what kind of shady businesses can be found in a megabuilding. Finally, there are several gigs that take place in various megabuildings across the city. Yes, gigs are fairly small missions by nature, but still we get to explore a number of different locations inside the megabuildings, like apartments, server room, utility/maintenance room, the roof, the penthouse etc etc. If all of this content was set in a single megabuilding, it would've felt pretty well utilized imo. At the end of the day CDPR had to populate an entire city and spread content around the map, so I think they gave us a decent look at what life in megabuildings is like with resources they had. I think to explore a megabuilding fully we'd need an entire game set there, like others suggested. Or it could have been a pretty cool location for a DLC. It's just a shame CDPR decided to only release one expansion. At least we got Dogtown, so I can't complain.

During the gig cuckoo's nest, I went back into the hospital after doing it stealthily, and killed everyone with gorila arms. 10/10 gig definitely one of my favorites.

I've developed a theory that the Cuckoo's Nest gig has another reference that goes way over people's heads. I believe the Dr. Jacob Shipman is reference to English serial Killer Dr. Harold Shipman. Who like the quest was involved in drugs as well. He had a drug problem and was known to overdose his victims, and he mostly killed woman. So I find kinda fitting that your saving one.

Something that popped out at me was, while in Booker Updike's room, there's a distinct delay between V's comment about the stench ("I'm gonna puke,") and Johnny's reaction "hey I know that smell" Later on (in my playthroughs) you can ask Johnny how he's adjusting to life in V's skin, one of his comments is a complaint about the delay between stimulus and response "When you bite into a pizza, it's ages before I feel you've burnt the roof of your mouth." I love the little bits like that, potentially showing the continuity of their world building.

A quick note on the Severence Package mission: Rereading the terminal entry, it's Cytech that wants to nix the neural safeguards and the updated drivers. The Corp seems to be set on cutting those options to "Prioritize a Competitive Market Price."

Coincidence about the moral outcry of XBDs. Been awhile since I seen the series so may be misremembering. David sold those types of BDs to other students. At the very least, he was very familiar with JK's Edgerunner series. The opening scene is one of those XBDs.

I noticed something interesting about Desperate Measures gig. When the gig was first added to the game in the patch 1.6, I remember very clearly that it ended with V parking the car inside a workshop and there was even an e-mail on the PC inside from El Captain ordering the workers to dismantle it afterwards to remove evidence. However after one of the smaller patches, the ending was changed to V just simply leaving this car at the designated parking lot. I wonder what was the reason behind this change. Only thing that comes to mind is that they decided to use that workshop for something else in the Phantom Liberty update, maybe in relation to El Captain new services.

I love that these gigs show us that Night City is much bigger than V. The Witcher series had one protagonist that we got to experience a lot with. I’d love it if that trend continues with Cyberpunk. There’s so many plot lines with V that haven’t been fully explored.

It's a cool idea, but I seriously doubt it. Geralt is the main protagonist of the books, that's why he persisted throughout all the games. V is just a generic PC, he has a gender-neutral name, we can customize his appearance any way we want, he's basically the equivalent of Tav in BG3. So I'm 99% sure Cyberpunk 2 will have a different character. Likely another custom character with a new voice actor and a different letter of the alphabet for a name lol

Re Desperate Measures; there are news stories that play in the background in various places that say that ALS is one of the few diseases that implants can't help with. It's a nerve problem that affects the brain, so replacing the rest of the body won't help. He's SOL in any case.

I think a tiny detail you missed on the Cuckoo's Nest gig is that Dr. Jacob Shipman performing and overseeing these heinous acts is a very obvious real life reference to Dr. Harold Shipman who was a British medical doctor in the late 90s / early 2000s. He is estimated to have murdered up to 250 of his elderly patients while he was in practice, though in the end they only could solidly convict him on the murder of about 15 of them. One of the worst serial killers in British history. As a fellow Brit it surprises me you didn't make that connection, Sam.

idk if anyone's mantioned it, but in severance package if you set the metal detector to friendly mode, you can walk right through it and the enemies will not be hostile to you. You can around like you own the place. Similar to Corpo V during Gimme Danger.

46:58 You can also quickhack enemies to end vehicle combat abruptly, however this gig is glitched if you do that (at least for me). Taking out the first car using short circuit will end the car chase and put you in a driving loop. I don't know if anyone else had this issue but it was entertaining to witness

In the "Union Strikes Back" gig, there is a Corpo prompt with the secretary, about you being sent here to shred some files, prompting her to leave the area to find out more. However, all it does is allow you to swipe the token, which as you've pointed out, can be done just by distracting her.

BDs are a double edge sword. You can use it to learn a lot of things without actually being there. Its exp in a disc. But human nature uses it for entertainment and amusement. Understandable.
