@@WrathfulGamingByWrath yeah I feel like choosing 2077 rather than 3007 or 3017 or even further into the future was sort of a weird move. I get that it is supposed to be like an 80s future so we divert around then but still would have made more sense if they chose a later date.

For such a young channel, this video was exquisitely done. I hope you get lots of subs for this! That said, I only have two things I ask you to consider. The life paths flavor the whole story…corpo is attempt at redemption to the company, street kid is making it big to overcome your roots, nomad is leaving family to try and find your own chosen family. You only mentioned Deck and Sandy…Berserk is much much more viable as a play style now, and the cyber compressor is an interesting means to wear all the best cyberware at the cost of the other three special abilities. Beautiful work!

This Absolute Masterpiece of a review/essay further drives home the way the game parallels the desperation displayed in Night City and my hometown and LA as two prime examples. As someone who has over 1850 hrs in The Cyberpunk 2077 universe. It is a reality escape for me as was the sandbox I played in to escape from the apathy and disdain I have witnessed both in my family and publicly through the years as my city and it's surrounding cities struggle to keep up with these problems exacerbated by a BC Government that closed mental health facilities and dumped them on the street hence the Downtown Eastside was born .This game at it's core forecasts the real world future as the streets of LA already has the feel and presence of desperation drowned out by the apathy and disdain of it's politicians, city state and Federal. Who's main concerns are not of their constituents but how fat their bank accounts and stock portfolios are. I as a Resident of Burnaby BC Canada (Fortunately I live in a subsidized Co-op who's ongoing housing uncertainty was finally settled in June of 2022 also am witnessing the same thing in real time as The Infamous Downtown Eastside that is now working its way up our Metro Transit system known as The Skytrain (That forks its way through Vancouver's surrounding cities) with various tent cities and the crimes of desperation that inevitably are perpetrated by the lost and the damned that at the are still Human Beings at their very core, that most due to their own problems like housing, feeding one self, possibly a spouse, and an ever shrinking family demographic due to the high cost of existence because living doesn't feel like living but more like surviving. I could further elaborate as I am a Person with disability (An empathetic non drug addicted Bi Polar who has been greeted with skepticism by for example Social Workers, Nurses and managers of Non Profit homeless shelters who can articulate the causes of my condition) kick started by apathy and disdain of my father himself a post postpartum baby his mother a victim of molestation perpetrated by her male siblings that have subconsciously carried on this legacy instead of the recognition that forms the will to end the cycle. The kick starter is due to the apathy and disdain displayed by my father who died in an ambulance alone due to a Pulmonary Edema from renal complications ( pregnant 5 times in 7 years the second child a male 10 months after my oldest sibling was born ) Drowning in her own body fluid at the age of 35 on June the 3rd 1967 she also had a stillborn baby boy in the previous spring of 1966. I just 5 weeks short of 7th birthday ,my siblings aged 12, 9 and 5 respectively, from her death though her funeral were never comforted and told everything is going to be alright basically were rudderless boys whose future would be painted by failed fatherhoods in the future, I being the exception but tried to fill the holes to the off spring of my siblings only to their own witness their failed marriages fatherhoods etc Two main points are made IMHO Corporate Greed, and 1% as the "Rich gets richer and the poor get poorer" The bootstraps to be pulled up to get ahead just plain doesn't exist any more and probably never has.

*****SPOILER***** When you said "this ending deprives the player of the game's final challenge, and ALSO DENIES THEM THE OPPORTUNITY OF AVENGING DAVID AND REBECCA" I immediately liked and subscribed. Shit still hurts a year later. Thank you for mentioning our loveable legends who are gone but never forgotten 😭. They still have shooters out here from beyond the grave 💪. Smasher must die. Edit: I really wish when they added in the Edgerunners content that they also added in a dialogue option right before you execute smasher that referenced David if you did the quest where you get his jacket. Same for Rebecca and her shotgun. Would make killing him 10x more cathartic.

This is a fun game however, CDPR needs to lean into the actual RPG with the next game. Don't make a named and voiced character. Include all the classes/backgrounds as life paths with corresponding perks and traits. Give multiple ways to play and beat the game. Make the story simple as "You're rise to the top to become the top fixer/edgerunner/corpo sellout etc". Make every gang and corporation into factions to can join, ally with, betray and fight. Have a batch of characters you can recruit into your team as your core group. Include Romance but make them more than a to do list, have each romance grant a perk or trait you otherwise couldn't get to unlock a skill or path you couldn't get etc. As for character creation, don't make the character a set age and let players make a physically small, medium or large character and allow body mods purchased in game to alter your body to look more muscular or clown or what have you. Then put in a balance system between full borg and going Cyberpsycho and maintaining enough meat kind of like the beast/humanity system from Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines.

No, the game needs a new game plus, it’s one of the most requested features to the game and CDPR really should deliver on that instead of giving us four excuses about Cyberware make a note where people can get in areas they should be able to like I keep saying in certain comments they could just add new game plus and make it where all the Cyberware is not equipped, but still owned in the inventory

@@bennygerow The secret to fixing bugs (if you play it enough, you know when its not normal), is to do a quick save and close the game down and restart it. Sometimes just a game save and restart in game works. I have yet to see a bug that wasn't fixed by closing out the game. And yes it still occurs infrequently in version 2.1 (latest version). I have and excessive amount of time into this game and played it from day 1, as it still is my favorite game to play and it was stunning on day one but the glitchy issues seemed inexcusable being used to to Ubisofts games, and every other game I have ever played. But... it didn't make me want to quit moving forward to see what was next. By ver. 1.23 it was mostly fixed and by 1.52 it was cleaned up a bunch. With 2.0 it was changed completely and for the better, but still had a few imperfections that would spoil a purist's view of what complete immersion should be like.

I played PS4 on release and even though the performance was rough and the gigs were not structured well so you got CONSTANT fixer calls, I was still blown away by the writing, the characters and the worldbuilding. Not to mention the atmosphere and the extremely impressive scope of Night City, both in terms of design and artistry. I don't expect we will see too many games with environments like Night City, with so much detail around every corner and an aesthetic that easily rivals the best cyberpunk fiction preceding it. Even though it is so much smaller than a megacity should be (by necessity of course, there's no way to build a 3D city that size within a reasonable dev cycle), it casts the illusion shockingly well. NC is an achievement that was severely underappreciated in the mainstream, in my opinion. That seems to be changing as the game gets more positive attention. So yeah, despite some extremely rough edges, I still loved it overall from day 1, and it only got much better since then. Some of my favourite ongoing additions are the text conversations with all the various characters. Really helped flesh out characters who were already interesting.

I was one of the (relatively few, it seems) players who was able to play Cyberpunk on launch, RTX on, with almost zero glitches. Rather than technical issues, I found myself more disappointed with the design philosophy of the game: a beautiful city, but few ways to interact with it; interesting characters who felt underutilized; a very railroaded main narrative; a combat system that was so unbalanced and rote that it started to bore 30 hours in. Phantom Liberty has come a very long way in terms of that lattermost issue. I’m at the tail end of my second 100-hour run in a row purely because the gameplay has gotten so much better. Meanwhile, the DLC narrative is, I think, much more consistent than the main game and adds a much-needed human factor to Cyberpunk as a whole that I think the base game just barely missed. I hope we get to see more of that caliber of writing in a sequel. A lot of the game’s philosophical issues still persist despite being smoothed over by new, fun flourishes, proper skill trees and the like, so I’m hoping CDPR is able to iterate on the work they’ve already done with the city itself and make it more vertical and interactive. I think within the span of a few sequels they might actually be able to put out a game that astonishes in a huge way.

Done 2.017hrs in the game so now 60hrs from the point of the game title year being the number of hours played. I have been there from day one I've seen the criticism and the anger at what came out to what people thought they would get, I soldiered on through that through the patches the issues the bugs and the other negative crap that had gone on with that stuff. A huge gripe for me was that people did not temper expectations of what they got with what they thought they would be getting. They seemed to forget that the demo reel shown at various times was subject to change...a lot of the features people seemed to get bent out of shape over appeared to me as fiddly and unhelpful and had no impact on what eventually became a bloody good game with a really well written story and a lot of heart and thought put into every aspect of it. It shows they could have easily just given up and walked away as a publisher, but no, they owned the mistakes and made it an incredible experience. As a PC gamer who has modded the game what I will say is this if you can afford to get the grunt and the graphics card to match in your system you will see just how far this game has come and also how damn incredible the modding community is on building on the foundation of that as well. CP2077 allows us to all experience a life we know we would never be able to live, in fact would rather not want to live if we could help it also serves as a warning about our own future if we are not careful about how governments are with the power they have over us never mind privately owned entities. Well put together essay on the game, as someone who's had countless hours of escape in it, I can't fault what you said here.

Game is breathtaking for sure. I played through the story twice when it came out. It was an average game on the ps5 at the time. Obviously it should never have been released on old systems. Played it again recently with the expansion on PC. Spend soo much time just driving around admiring the world, combat is better now. I can't imagine what a legend this game would be if it had released originally in its current state. Hopefully they don't rush out their next game, because they have mostly rehabilitated their rep but if they pull this stunt a second time that may very well be the end of the company. They were lucky they got this game working to this level.

I got this game because I remember the infamous hype and heard the story was really impactful and wow this is one of if not the best game I’ve ever played coming in close to 200 hours of play time near to some of my favorite games play time wise and that’s before even finishing the story I’ve just been doing side missions and the new expansion which I love the world building the characters it’s unlike any other game I’ve played the state the game is in now is the way it should’ve been released and I wouldn’t have minded waiting two more years for it so glad it got an award this year people need to play this game now

There is only one other game, Chrono Trigger, that I'll play though after completing the story. I'm on my third playthrough, there are so many options and play styles I want to see and do it all.

@11:42 there are 2 other OS's in the game as well. The Berserk will negate damage and increase your melee abilities but restricts you to melee while active. The also have the Chrome Compressor, which forgos all 3 of the others in favor of increasing your Cyberware capacity and not taking any itself.
@WrathfulGamingByWrath

100% correct. I only mentioned the cyberdeck and sandy as I feel most players will pick one of the two. Do you experiment with different builds?
@damienjohnson3450
@damienjohnson3450 9 ай бұрын
@@WrathfulGamingByWrath I am on my 7th playthrough. I'm currently trying to make a "Blade" build. Based on the Marvel character Blade, my goal is to go with the Chrome Compressor, Gorilla Arms, a shotty, a katana, and a throwing knife. The build diversity in this game is yet to be fully explored as far as I can see. I have used every OS and Arm ware so far except for the Chrome Compressor. I have to say that while the Sandy and Cyberdeck are the most popular, the Berserk is the most powerful and will make the game feel too easy at times, especially once you get the Militech Berserk. You cannot go below 25% of your HP max while it's active and will heal you once it ends by a % for each enemy you take out. Combine it with the Chitin and the Second Heart and you will never die.

I played my first two runs as Nomad and Street Kid on the PS4, but switched to computer for my Corpo run so I can also do Phantom Liberty. Once I got to Victor's for the first time, I did nothing but NCPD quests to run up my eddies and weapons. By the time I was 53 hours in, I I met Tanaka at the diner. All my weapons, clothing and cyberware were Epic level. After that, I started the Aldecaldo quest, and Judy's quest. Then I did the voodoo boys quest, and at 70 hours hit Phantom Liberty. The opening of Phantom Liberty is pretty intense. I got to the point where I meet Solomon/Idris. I guess I have to decide what to do next. At the very least, I am do to upgrade my cyberware. I found a TON of tier 5 equipment and material, so it should be pretty easy to upgrade several pieces of cyberware, and maybe sell enough lower level weapons to get enough eddies to do a straight equipment upgrade. Does it makes sense to pop back to Night City at that point? Or stick with Dogtown for a few more missions? P.S. Its funny you mentioned Prey. I played that a few games before this, and there are quite a few parallels I see between the two games..including art styles in certain areas.
@WrathfulGamingByWrath
@WrathfulGamingByWrath 9 ай бұрын
Nice! Cyberpunk is great for replay value. I'd say you're best to stick with Dogtown for a while but there is no harm in switching back and forth. There are a few main story missions in phantom liberty that will require you wait a day or two to progress, that's a pretty good point to go off and explore Dogtown or other side jobs. If you like Prey and video essays I'd suggest subscribing to the channel. I think you can figure out what I'm doing next...

No, this game isn't "Breathtaking". People shouldn't pay $60 dollars for a game "to get good" years later. Only the video game industry can get away with this and you're also telling the video game industry that they can keep making broken games and the people will buy it anyway. Validating and rewarding their bad behavior.
@WrathfulGamingByWrath
@WrathfulGamingByWrath 8 ай бұрын
But once the game has 'gotten good' what then? I agree that the gaming industry is selling fundamental broken products at times and would urge everyone to wait until a game releases to check the quality. Having said that, what should we do when a game comes out busted but is then improved to being near the top of the genre? In my opinion, we demonise a game for a poor launch but praise it if it redeems itself. Hopefully teaching the market, only polished games will be successful. Thanks for stopping by.

As a new player who never touched the game. The start was good but once you head to the open world, the illusion breaks. The normal open world mechanics and mission options you’d think would be there is just not there. I threw a punch to a Gym guy expecting a fight but everyone just runs. I punch the ceramics products and food at the market place the owner does not get mad they still run in fear. I killed a netrunner carried his body to ripperdoc he does not react. I refunded my purchase.

I am PC Master Race, and have been since I built my first computer. So ther have been the ups and downs of that. When CP 2077 first came out, I was the lucky one and didn't get that many problems. It was by no means flawless, but my experience was lightyears away from the seemingly hellscape that other people had had, and the absolute shit show that console players were having. So honestly, when i'd see these "bad takes, and poor reviews." I thought that these people were nuts, but the evidence didn't lie. Still I found the game, and its story to be amazing. Johnny is amazing, and you can go from hating his guys to loving him like a brother easily. But for me every single update CDPR had put out has just been more gold stacking onto the pile. Yeah, the pile was small at first, but it grew. I love this game! I have so many play throughs, and most of them are different builds, but funny enough I haven't finished the story on them. I'll go about and clear out all of the side quests, gigs, police jobs, and so on, but its hard for me to go to Embers. Because I don't know there is something about that finality that I Just hate. I Just don't want it to end, but I know once I start down that road, there is no turning back. yeah I know you can continue after you reload the game save, but its not the same. Once you've watched the credits on a play through for me that is it, game over. Time to move on. Just like Skyrim, Witcher 3, and now Cyberpunk 2077. I have to limit my time playing the game, or I can put my head down and month has passed and i'm like where TF did the time go? lol.

Personally I'm a jack of all trades. I have PC, console and switch so I just play wherever is best for the game. I agree, there is something different once you've finished it.
