The gang gave David a purpose and something to keep going for. He didn’t really have a dream of his own he just wanted to achieve something that someone else wanted. Make his mom and Maine proud. But in the end he kept going for his friends, himself knowing he was special and the promise he made to his love Lucy ;( really an emotional rollercoaster
@dastemplar96812 жыл бұрын
You could tell, after losing his Mom, getting booted out of the academy, about to be evicted. All that mattered to him was doing something right before he died. To make it feel like he didn’t waste the love of his mother. He was ready to go all the way in making sure his love escapes Night City, even if it was to cost him everything, even his life. Lucy was right, he was too good for the Cyberpunk life. He was a good kid stuck in Night City.

@Gonzora2 жыл бұрын
@@bobjohnson6131 It's not "epic" but the German series "Dark" is one of the masterpieces of the platform. "The Haunting of Hill House" is also in the best imho. In a less heavy register, the adaptation of "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" pleased me a lot. There is of course "Stranger Things" but I don't think I need to talk about it. Anime-wise "Devilman: Crybaby" is one of the best I've seen in my life (and I'm writing this as an adult who's been watching anime since he was a kid in the 90s) but it's is quite trashy and the visual style is special. “Violet Evergarden” is very good in the teardrop genre in addition to being visually sublime (no wonder from the Kyoto Animation studio). "Aggretsuko", despite its childish chara design, is a very good comedy for adults (we talk about relationships and life at work, not sure that this interests many teenagers). "Castlevania" takes time to become interesting but it's a good adaptation of the video game universe and it only gets better from season to season (note that it's not a Japanese anime). Of course there is also the masterclass that is "Arcane" but you must have heard of it already. There is also "Great Pretender" which I really enjoyed. The adaptation of "Beastars" is quite good with season 1 but I would tend to recommend the manga because the end of season 2 in my eyes rushed and spoiled one of the best characters of the adapted arc, this which does not reassure me for the rest (+ the manga has the advantage of being already finished). Finally, I will allow myself to recommend that you avoid the anime of "Record of Ragnarok". I'm a fan of the manga and this adaptation is a disappointment on all points: the lack of budget is flagrant and the studio is not used to fighting series, so the animation is very meh when the manga is literally a battle royal featuring epic battles. The only thing to save from this disaster is the work of the Japanese dubbing actors, the rest is to be thrown away. Anyway. I think you have something to do with this list and I've already written a lot for not much, so I'll stop there. Edit: ofc this list only concerns series produced by Netflix so I don't mention all the quality titles for which they just have the broadcasting rights (+ these rights vary according to the country so I do not know if what is available in mine is also in yours).

The plot, the absolutely amazing characters and the world around them, the music, the animation and aesthetic all make this my absolute favorite anime of all time. It is a story of love and happiness but also of sorrow and loss. It was absolutely heartbreaking to watch the gang break apart one by one and David slowly collapsing to protect his loved ones and sacrificing himself to save Lucy, I really wanted David and Lucy to have a future together and even have a family but that is simply impossible in a place like this. I felt that moment because my mom passed away recently and what David witnessed has the same similarities to what happened with my mom. Since we lived in a 3rd world country, public insurances (Philhealth) here has a capping and doesn't benefit the patient so by technicality, we're not that rich. Mama didn't deserve terrible healthcare and the negligence of the hospital. Manuel Antonio Ko the Dr. doesn't give any crap and all he wants is to profit and to get more money because he is always not present when my mom was in the ER and especially when she is in the ICU. The Dr. himself is NOT present! Then when my mom passed away, he never contacted us and never asked anything on what happened. If only the Dr. was present then my mom could have been given some strong dosage of medicine to fight the sepsis because of the negligence of the nurses. The nurses kept on complaining when my mom was still strong and the nurses are getting paid to complain? All they have to do was to do their jobs but I guess that's the reason why the Manila East Medical Hospital is hot garbage and trash! We should have known and done our research earlier because that hospital is so notorious to have ALOT of bad reviews. But that is the only nearest hospital within our area but if only. I feel even till now, I failed saving my mom. We both have our dreams together and I am confident that our dreams will happen. Mama is always strong and always healthy. But I still feel, I failed saving my mom. Anyway, sorry for the long message. The first episode of this anime kept me this feeling of de ja vu all over again. With Mama's passing, I don't know what else I should do right now. I still have this job and work but it feels empty. David's journey feels the same or similar but at the same time different because he has Lucy at his side. All I have is myself and this corporate job of emptiness. I miss my Mama so much. :(
