It's honestly impressive just how much more weight the Driv3r crashes have to them in comparison. Even if driving wasn't the main focus (it's still an important as a central feature), it left you desiring a lot more in CP2077.

DRIV3R and Cyberpunk 2077 as games seem to be such polar opposites. On one hand you've got Reflections who excelled in driving physics, damage modelling and crash simulations, but struggled with gunplay and on-foot mechanics. Then there's CD Project who have no clue how a car should sound like, laughable "physics", next to no suspension and damage modelling, but end up having decent gunplay and on-foot action. But seriously, their engine notes/sounds are comparable to an N64 driving game, it's ridiculous.

Gotta love how physics that promote infinite replayability have taken a back seat to shiney graphics & flashy effects. Don't get me wrong, I love beautiful graphics, but when the game world doesn't respond convincingly when poked, then it's all for nothing. I don't care how pretty your game is if it plays like crap.

That comparison is a bit flawed, of course car collision would work differently, you see, Cyberpunk is set in 2077, the people that built those vehicles and cities learnt from the people whose physics classes were over Zoom this year. There is no way half of the stuff even works!!! Of course I'm not serious, bwt, for everyone that read all that: Which other open world-game's driving physics do you like?

By the way did you downscale CP77 or does it really look this smeared at 1080p? I tried it at 1440p and it was pretty bad but not unusually bad, even Mafia III doesn't look this bad at 1080p though.

Good comparison. Imagine making a driving game with shit physics in the year 2020. What the hell was going on in CDPR. I would think they wanted to make a great story and world first, then concentrate on physics as an afterthought. In a driving/sandbox game you need to get the physics right. As much as I dislike them, Rockstar always nails that part. Can't remember when I last saw such bad driving physics. Hopefully CDPR can do a 'no man's sky' with it.

Everything in cyberpunk looks fake and empty. It doesn't even look like a cyberpunk game. Lighting is generic, cars are old, the city doesn't look modern. This game should be dark with neon lights, rain, fog, androids, high-tech cities.
