Arghyakamal Mitra, National award winning editor whose credits include classics like Dahan, Abohomaan, Utsab, Chokher Bali, Bow Barracks Forever, Antarmahal, The Last Lear, Noukadubi, Chitrangada, Bhooter Bhabishyat and many more, opened up on the love, challenges and the thrills of editing. The veteran of the Bengali film industry remembered his association with friend and long time collaborator Rituparno Ghosh and his influences on the editing process. Fabulous interview and I really like the comparison Mr. Mitra drew between Mumbai vs. Kolkata resident and India vs. America. Personally, I approached some directors as an actor this year and many assumed I will quote a high price being a "Canadian" Actor. Of course, staying abroad has its plus and minus and he brought up a very apt point....

বলার অবকাশ রাখেনা যে কতটা ভালো, শুধু 'রিদম' ব্যাপারটা যেহেতু সবথেকে বেসিক এবং ইম্পরট্যান্ট একটা জায়গা, আরেকটু যদি সেটা নিয়ে আলোচনা করা যেত.. আক্ষেপ রয়ে গেল। যদিও রিদম ব্যাপারটা ভাষায় প্রকাশ করে আলোকপাত করাটা একটু চাপের, তবুও যদি দু'-চারটে উদাহরণ টেনে ভেতরে ঢোকার চেষ্টা করে...

Completed watching both the parts. Nice and refreshing. Refreshing , specifically because few small but important areas have been attended to, which were otherwise making the whole process stereotypical, plebeian etc in the previous episodes. The sitting arrangement for example, formal , done up look of the interviewer for another. If there’s one specific attribute which has made these two episodes stand apart, it is the ability to transform the interviewee to an informal and chatty mode. Few things could have been improved further, first the length, 100+ mins is long, use your chopping block effectively and ruthlessly (eg. long & winding preamble). Other could be lighting , why so flat ? Best of Luck ....
