I was there as part of the Laid back bike report crew and this was my favorite shoot. It was so cool to see others in the industry jump in and help with getting people up and riding on 2 wheels. And then the rider's faces change from being worried to that recumbent smile. That is what this is all about.

Thx I live in Manhattan New York City on about seven Bents and Trike. As long as it’s not a cat, Trike 700 you can be visible on a trike. Do you have to have a very conspicuous flag and very powerful lights, front and rear. Light and motion makes a glowing and blinking light. I’ve got about 20 lights in my drawer. This is the best. Also, if you’re going to ride a trike in Manhattan or a city, it’s best not to do it in the more congested areas. And you need to position your vehicle so that you can be seen don’t try to hide on corners or on the side. You have to occupy space where visibility can happen.

Dana is a wealth of knowledge on 2-wheelers, good to see bike content.

Nice to see this since all we ever hear about is trikes.

Thanks for posting this. Light bulb moment for me is watching all the guys help the first time riders by pushing them along when they start. I've got a bunch of recumbents that I like to take friends out with for first time trial rides. I'm not sure why, but I've never thought to give them a helpful push when they start. I'll definitely be giving folks starter pushes from now on, especially when the start is literally the hardest part of getting acclimated to a two wheeled bent.

I've owned a RANS V-Rex and still have a Barcroft Virginia Ti. The V-Rex was my first 'bent, and the Barcroft was a refinement (for me) of the V-Rex experiment. Now both Barcroft and RANS are out of business. I think trikes eventually grabbed most of the market as the boomers got older. I just turned 71, and so far I am on two wheels, both recumbent and a couple of mountain bikes. So far, my balance is still pretty good, but a lot of folks migrate to trkes once balance becomes an issue.

Over 20 years on Bacchetta. They are fast, comfortable and reliable. The two wheels allow more room on the trails.

Huge Brand-Information video there! Observed video from my own senior '70', handicapper eyes: Seniors are Far-And-Away BEST served with: Recumbent Delta Trike Planform with USS. E-assist, WITH Rohloff gearbox, 2WD, dual suspension under Rider's torso and any cargo! 97++% of ALL riders are best served with Single Steer Tire on a trike! "Hase" tallest seat "Lepus" model here. "Hase" has available; Post Purchase, at-home garage, Modifications/Accessories/Instructions!!! OH, Yeah! 30+ years recumbent experience here. 15-years off my non-accessible 2-wheel recumbent, AND my tadpole trikes! Even tadpole trikes, are HUGELY not accessible, when aging reduces balance!!! Lessened, OR, Lack-of-Balance VERY common while aging!!! WHILE Sitting side-saddle on a delta planform seat, swing/lift a Single leg over the frame. This, even if to/from a wheelchair!!! (Was not always handicapped here!) Never outgrow a delta planform trike. Grow oldest on a delta planform trike. Gary AKA: "Jason Stillwater" in the recumbent world.

Beautiful bikes. Question to manufacturers: why no resellers in Finland, Bacchetta and other 2-wheelers? Recumbent market non-existent here.

Great video. My first bent experience was my Sun Ez sport lwb recumbent. Loved it. Very fast but I must admit it’s tough to get rolling on, miserable to start on any incline, and a lot less stable than I would prefer. It’s very fast and comfy but you just can’t relax and cruise like you can on a trike. I switched to Catrikes 5-6 years ago and have a 559 and a 700 and love them both. Easy to climb, much more stable , can stop and start anywhere. The 700 is as fast as anything out there. I’ve been trying to sell my Sun lwb for 5 years through bike shops, web sites and any way possible. No takers. Folks test ride and are intimidated. I recently test rode a Cruzbike because I have 2 wheeler on my brain and realized in short order I’d be in an emergency room fast. My lwb comes out for a few rides a year and I ride my two trikes over 10,000 miles per year at age 71. If I want some 2 wheeling I take out my high end Specialized for a fast spin. I’m a triker all the way.

10k per year, Mark? You are a triker beast!
@markfeldman6509 Жыл бұрын
@@GarySolomon…yup. An old beast of sorts. I do 30 miles per day every day in just under two hours. I alternate between the 559 and 700. When I take a recovery day or a day off for weather or other events I follow up with a 50 mile day. At the end of each month my two buddies and I do a century ride on one of the Cape Cod trails. I use the 559 for the longer rides as it is more comfortable and the 700 when I want a fast ride. As a matter of fact I just went over 10k for this year yesterday. Still have 2 1/2 months left in the year. Fortunately I get to ride all winter in Florida. I fear my 2 wheel recumbent days are basically over due to safety fears.

You should come to RAGBRAI in Iowa and put on these demonstrations. I ride a Carbon Aero on RAGBRAI and everyone wants to try it but are to scared they are going to wreck it. If you set up a tent in a sleepover town...it would be fantastic.

What I found out after making 10 different bike prototypes is that A) I need a rear suspension and B) Ventisit foam+ rigid carbon seat is the most comfortable seat I've ever had. I can't understand how people can still ride on unsuspended bikes unless you strictly go on nicely paved cycling paths.
