Noticed mine leaking. Same thing. 2023 after my first 600 mile dealership oil change. Dealership is about to get a call! Thank you for this video.

As of now the 2021 model in this video is still leak free. That's after a full riding season and 5k miles so I can say the new mechanical seal solved the problem.

@@Cyclepedia dropped mine off at the dealership waiting to hear if warranty covers it. Pretty sure the dealership I bought from said I had a 12 month warranty. So it should be covered. Glad I had this video to reference and hopefully it gets fixed. Thanks again

I have been noticing a few drops of blueish colored fluid on my garage floor under my 300 rally. I noticed the same little tube on the bottom you pointed out has liquid on it. So after searching the web and videos I think I have a seal leaking too. I have an appointment at the Honda dealer here in a few days. My bike has 2300 miles and is still in warranty. If I knew it would just stay a few drips here and there I wouldn't worry about it, but... I don't know. Thanks for this video.

Got the same leak bought the Cyclepedia manual will see if it stops if not will fix it myself. As I will not be putting lot of miles on it and will be out of warranty.

My brand-new Honda CRF300L started leaking blue coolant the day I bought it. I took it to the dealer and they held it for six weeks and then returned it to me with instructions to put 600 miles on it. They said it was a heat activated seal on the water pump that needed to go through "heat cycles" before it swells enough to stop leaking. After 600 miles the leaking continued - even while it sits there cold for days it just keeps dripping the blue radiator fluid. I took it back to the dealer and they said they replaced the Water Pump Gasket, part #19226-KYJ-901 - This is the gasket for the case, not the actual Seal around the Water Pump shaft that I feel needed to be replaced. Now they want me to "get unit to 1,000 miles so that seal can set." It still leaks the blue radiator fluid after every time I stop - there will be a drip. The warranty ran out and Honda isn't doing anything about it. I like to keep my brand-new stuff looking new, but this has been ugly from the beginning. I plan on keeping this bike for many years. The dealership tries to tell me that this is normal for new motorcycles, even sport bikes. QUESTIONS: If I plug the Water Pump Weep Hole will damage result because it can't leak? Did your repair - replacing the seal - stop leaking over time or do you still have to "live with it?" I might run a tube from the weep hole to somewhere or make a catch-can. My new CRF300L needs a diaper.

The bike in the video was still dripping at 3,500 miles with no sign of stopping. After replacing the mechanical seal the engine now has 7,500 miles and has not dripped once. This Seems to be a know issue on these. A small amount is normal on liquid cooled engines but a regular drip like these bikes have is more than normal in my opinion.

I would have liked to have watched the mechanical seal replacement. Does it have to be pressed in? Honda did mine on warranty but I have the parts to do it in case it fails again.

Yes, pressing the seal in is the way to go. If you need to do this later our manual has step by step on how to do the job or any job on this bike with tech support. Feel free to contact us at www.cyclepedia.com/ and I'll set you up.
