Cycling through Monument Valley is truly out of this world! Unlike many touristy places, that tend to be less spectacular than you have in your mind, here it was the opposite. Everything is bigger, more dramatic and more mystical than we had imagined.
And not just Monument Valley itself. The whole ride from Bluff (or even earlier) to Monument Valley was breathtaking. Something you just really have to experience for yourself.
We continued our journey through Utah together with David, who we met in New Mexico a few weeks prior, and really enjoyed sharing our unique experience of Monument Valley with him!

I rode thru that area in 2021. I was on hwy 160 from Tuba City thru Walsenburg, CO. Unfortunately, 4 Corners was closed because of Covid so I never actually entered Utah. It was a great bike ride from California to Missouri. Happy Trails. That's funny, you camped right at the store at Teec Nos Pos.😊

You biked a very familiar-to-me route. Our family's tradition for our sons' school spring break each March would be to load up the truck with camping, climbing and biking gear and head to the BLM land between Bluff and Lake Powell. We set up a base camp out in the wilderness and explored for a week. The desert is an amazing place and I'm so glad you got to see its beauty by bike.

I'm currently staying in Monument Valley (snow!) and came across your video. From what I can tell, neither bikes nor drones are allowed in the Navajo Nation Park, due to the Navajo people who live here. I'm wondering what your experience was when you created this video. Thanks!

To be honest, we just cycled the main highway through the Monument Valley, so would be pretty surprising if we weren't allowed to cycled there. It's just a public road. An regarding the drone, there weren't any flight restrictions, so we flew it.

We would have loved to but unfortunately ran out of time as we only had 90 days in the US. But we definitely want to come back and do more of the West / North-West!

Wow that looks great. I'm cycling from Key West to LA and I'm also thinking of going through Monument Valley. I arrived in New Mexico yesterday. Did you carry a lot of water with? Because there are some streches without any shops or gas station. Thanks a lot and keep cycling ;)

Thanks! We never really had any problems with water in the US. We carry about 3L each on our bikes and that was always plenty to get us to the next refill point, including having cooking water. Have a good trip! 😊

We cycled pretty much from the north-east to the south-west of AZ. Then crossed to California in the south along the Colorado river and went to San Diego.

Yea, we did. As the campsites in the Monument Valley are really expensive, it wasn’t much more to get the Airbnb (especially because we shared it with David). 😊

Very nice. I do photography in and around MV and wind/dust can be an issue! I wish I knew you were transversing Bluff, UT through Mexican Hat, UT (UT 163) I would have suggested Valley of the gods road to Goosenecks state park and a detour to Moki Dugway. Alas next time. Riding around Lake Powell / Grand Staircase Escalante Nat Monument & Glen Canyon Nat Recreation Area is pretty awesome. May need different bikes for that... Yes we have glowing rocks as Louisa pointed out. North Rim is sweet! Safe Travels

Back in 1983, I biked with a friend across the US. We spent a night at 4 corners. Back then it only had a few stone picnic tables which we slept under - very different than shown here. I still have and ride that bike. I enjoy your videos!
