Join us on a European bike packing adventure as we cycle from Munich to Verona and back! This journey will take you through incredible mountainscapes, charming villages and historic sites. Get ready to experience the adventure as we navigate through Europe on our bikes.
In part two we cycle from Innsbruck and into Italy. Over the next couple of days we navigate yet more thunderstorms and eat our bodyweight in pasta and pizza, before finally making it to Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Italian Dolomites. We then decide to take a few days off the bike to explore the mountains in the Dolomites and plan the cycle route for the next week.
Grateful as always for you tuning in, any questions about the route or packing please ask away and I'll do my best to answer them. Happy venturing!

Im impressed with your setting up the tent skills. Im talking about the new tent. He dropped it on the ground, and it's fully set up. Plus he lost his shirt. Haha 😂 Whats the new thent. An MSR what?

Haha 😂 It's a unique technique! I do believe its an MSR Elixir 2 Backpacking tent. Took him ages in the shop as he couldn't decide, but eventually came out with the exact same model as the last, but in green 😊

Excellent video series! Thanks for sharing your adventure. Are you able to share what campsites you stayed at from Innsbruck onwards? We're looking to do this route next week and it looks like campsites are few and far between in Italy :)

A question about what you packed? You do a bicycle tour in the bike packing style, and it doesn't look like you have much.

It's taken some trial and error on the packing front. Defiantly over packed on my first trip! Try to ride light-ish. It was easier as it was warmer to travel light. We shared out the tent. I had a sleeping bag and mat system. Think I had two cycling shorts, several tops, least one pair of long trousers and a warm layer. We bought a lot of food on the way which saved weight. Are you planning to do a similar route this year?

hey, great to be put up by an Italian the moment you roll your wheel into the country and there's Pizza and ha Pasta to make the going harder. Wow, good on you guys for pushing on - wet and cold. I always say we're waterlings and not earthlings so much. I agree with your partner there Betty. Well, good to get into town and explore. I think you found a nice trail in the end. All the best. Mark

We ate so much pizza! And pasta, I love Italian food so I was in heaven! As we crossed the Alps there seemed to become a daily pattern of warm days and stormy nights, thankfully the new tent was watertight!

Hey I'm just wondering whereabouts you leave your bike when you explored the mountains by foot? I want to do a solo bikepacking trip and am just worried about how to leave it somewhere without it getting stolen. Thanks!
@TheGirlGoneNomad

Hi there, I can completely understand, that’s certainly a worry I’ve had. We were staying at a campsite in the Dolomites so we left them chained up by the tent on our pitch. But I know some sites have bike stores where you could leave them. If you are wild camping it could be a little trickier, sometimes bus and train stops have a secure place you can store them. Hope this has been some help? If you needed any campsite recommendations just let me know, I’d be happy to share the ones I’ve used 😊
