Cycling through satoyama: Shionoe Town, Kagawa, Japan (塩江町)

A friend and I go on a bicycle ride from Takamatsu City to Shionoe Town, following the Koto River. Shionoe is well known for its hot springs and hotels, some of which are located deep in the mountains. We will pass through farmland and also see some sights along the way, including Iwabu Hachiman Shrine, which has two massive ginkgo trees.
"Satoyama" (里山) is a term applied to the border zone or area between mountain foothills and arable flat land. Literally speaking, sato (里) means village, and yama (山) means hill or mountain.
