@MrDazP1adv3ntures3 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right there Neil, I think the advice at the time was to split the group up into two groups also which we tried to do but this isn't always possible. I have tried to make a more conscious effort to convey this on recent videos of the rides. As for my mate who rides with no helmet I guess that is down to his own personal risk assessment and choice, he's a good guy might I add. I feel naked without a helmet and I have also cracked a few over recent years when I've come a cropper.......ouch ! Thanks for watching and commenting again, cheers.

Just found your channel, great ride and loving the video. Your average speed is awesome. Sorry if this is a silly question but what’s best way in your option to increase that? I cycle in the hardest gear on the flats as seems the quickers. Should I lower the gear to help to increase my average speed so it’s easier to pedal with more crank rotations? Cheers mate
@MrDazP1adv3ntures4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching VBML . Average speed is not always the ideal data to go off, most people like to look at wattage these days, personally I don't. A good cadence is often key to maintaining an efficient riding pace but this can take a bit of getting used to. If you can aim for 90 rpm on the cranks that is a good benchmark. The best way to get free speed though is to wear close fitting clothing and keep your elbows in with the lowest position you can get comfortable with. Even lowering your handlebars. Some riders will even get narrower handlebars from 40mm to 38mm.
@jayaybe14 жыл бұрын
Re: Those temporary coned cycle lanes Daz. Make sure to be careful you're not riding into a roadworks ditch! I've just got back into cycling after 33 years so a few niggles to iron out but making good progress and averaging ~ 15 - 16 mph on the same roads.
@MrDazP1adv3ntures4 жыл бұрын
Great to hear buddy. 16mph ain't too shabby either. Once you get that buzz feeling on the bike it fuels the need to keep riding more and more.

MrDazP1 I bought Shimano stainless steel cables, but inside the shifter the mechanism isn’t in the right place to locate the end piece of the cable. Can’t rotate it round by moving the shift so I am at a loss. I did one on my old Scott mountain bike years ago but it’s different with The Infinito’s shifter. Turning my Dawes galaxy into a streetfighter it’s lost its rack and today it’s losing its mudguards😂
@MrDazP1adv3ntures4 жыл бұрын
@@sophiescyclingandwalkingch4294 have you indexed the shifter to the last click point where it allows you to feed the cable through the internal mechanism of the trigger.

Looking to ride with some local riders, think there is a club there but not sure what kind of rides they do. I went over Holme moss again yesterday, the wind was wild. Couldn’t get any kind of speed going down to woodhead, the wind was viciously changing directions and battering the bike.
@MrDazP1adv3ntures4 жыл бұрын
@@CyclingwithRuss That descent towards Woodhead is scary fast on it's day and the group I ride with are just local riders from around the Rochdale area. There's a few clubs too around there, ABC Centreville, East Lancs, West Pennine etc. There seems to be a lot more on line social groups you can join these days through FACEBOOK and Strava but you need to be aware of your privacy settings.
