So funny to hear the US Postal general manager talk about "strict" policy about not talking drugs hahahah

Yes but you could say that about any other team then or now... as recent events have proved. The cheats just get more sneaky feeding in boosters under the excuse of prescribed medicines. Ha ha ha. It's all false with a double dose of hypocrisy on the part of those who lead witch hunts.

@Lee Shackelford The only riders that did not really later admit to using PED's were most of the Italians, countless Spanish riders got caught or later admitted to it. The results in Cycling are about fat more then who finished on the top 10 in the Tour as countless teams were busted for having systematic doping as many other winners of other major races

Here we are in 2022 and people are still believing the dream. A 15 year old Russian girl has tested positive for a banned substance in figure skating. If you can’t accept that pro athletes will always look for an edge, you’re deluded. Make all the armstrong jokes you want. The lowest common denominator will comment with a laugh emoji and then you can feel like you told a really good joke. Meanwhile tadej is injecting something. The best part is I don’t fucking care. His opponents are doing the same. It’s an arms race. That includes nutrition, equipment, tactics, and yes, the hot sauce! It’s not new and it’s never going to stop. Well, it could stop if there wasn’t any financial rewards. But if winning means getting paid, they will always look for the edge. Period.

So where's the infamous Armstrong-Bassons argument at Alpe d'Huez???

The soundtrack for 1998 was SO much better. It was unobtrusive, atmospheric, and enhanced the footage. 1999 is like ‘the early 80s called and wants their CCTV station identity break fills back.” awful awful awful.

The darkest period ever in tdf started here.. It's also one of the causes of pantani left lonely and hopeless.. But the worst thing is that Ferraris method it's all about numbers and science, everything is reduced to maths!! No soul anymore, no more romanticism... He took a mediocre and created a champion inside a laboratory, that's what he did with armstrong. And since this moment there was no space anymore for cyclists being men with soul and loving cycling... It's all about science, medical science, laboratories and numbers.. So sad.. This was the tombstone on cycling.

You obviously have no idea what was going on in the tour before 99😂

@@lsaaclazo641 He knows what was going on before then, but the difference between 90 and 97 before the Festina Scandal in 98 that nobody cared about the issue until then, because the sport was under a cloud of suspicion for a long time and anybody that won any major race afterwards was going to be suspected of using PED's

You think it's the darkest period because this is Lance's first win but it's also the start of his 7 tour wins that was taken away. Let me tell you, if you think Miguel Indurain wasn't doping, your blind. Jans Ulrich was doping when he won in 97, pantanni was doping in 98. All epo and steroids!! They couldn't test for epo until 2000 fairly. At best, they would test your red cell count and if it was higher then average, you would be banned for 2 weeks and then when tested again, if your count was average, you could race again. The only reason Lance got taken down, was because of Floyd Landis. If it wasn't for Landis, Lance would still hold his 7 wins. Almost every g.c racer was doping!! They knew they had to, if they wanted to win. A lot of people think lance wouldn't have even been able to compete in the tour if he wasn't doping. Well, if everyone wasn't doping, Lance would have won. There has been doping in the tour de France for at least 75 years. I'd say that 85% of all the g.c winners were doping. When you say this is where the dark period started, I have to say No, it's where greatness started, he just got told on by Floyd Landis. Remember this, one thing people don't see that's not living in France, is that, any time someone starts winning especially someone not french, all the rumors start about doping. Yes, sad thing is, their pretty much all doping and I'd say in the last 10 years, they have gotten good at testing. But these days, all you gotta do is change 1 molecule in a substance, and it's undetectable. I look back at the 99 tour, and see the start of greatness.

@@michaelvitiello9960 bruh, stop it. nothing great here, he cheated he lied he pretended he denounced but was backed by the officials for as long as it was possible for them, for ONE simple reason: money, bc the US market was too big to be ignored. U also assume/pretend that everybody doped the same and that everybody had the same ressources and was able to take the same risks. Not true. As already said, Armstrong was backed by the officials, he could risk more; also, pantani and others already 98/99 were in trouble, bothered by police and prosecutors in their countries, Armstrong wasnt. Finally, u assume/pretend that drugs have the same effect on everybody. And that's also not true. In reality there can be, and actually also are, huge differences between individuals. Just one example from "everyday" life, Armstrong's cancer: he had big metastasis in his lungs and his brain; so much that it's usually a death sentence. Doctors will try to do surgery etc., but chances to survive in such a stage are close to 0%, even nowadays. Now, they did surgery, and then gave Armstrong chemotherapy. And here comes the miracle: after just 4 cycles of chemotherapy -- that's once a week for 4 consecutive weeks -- he was completely cancer-free. An absolute miracle. And what it shows is this: Armstrong's body RESPONDED miraculously well to drugs; there's nothing here he did himself, it's just pure luck that his body responded that well; and for sure, without those drugs he would have died. In the same sense: it's not clear if sth. similar happened with him when doping, maybe those drugs had a much bigger effect on Armstrong than on others.

@@makiroll9960 you don't know what I know. You sound stupid!! If you have paid attention to the tdf 30 years before lance started winning, or for even when he first started racing the tdf back in 93. Pantani who won it in 98, Ulrich who won it in 97 , Miguel Indurain, his 5 straight he won, was doping. Everyone thinks that because this American team was American, it had a super power doping program. That couldn't be farther from the truth. The doping programs of the euro teams, are so technically more advanced then the American program it's not even funny. Our doping program was primitive compared to theirs. Why did Floyd Landis dope, so did Tyler Hamilton when he went to his own team "cdc" & "Phoenix" away from lance!! Back then epo wasn't detectable. Everyone knew how to get around it, and if you wanted to be the G.C winner of the tdf, you had to dope. It happens well after lance. Lance's Astana team mate "Alberto contador" he got busted for doping. Don't even come at me with your b.s.

A hahaha!! You see all the climbers or half climbers and then armstrong, with a completely different body shape, with two shoulders of a rugbyplayer... It's funny, it reminds me of when riis destroyed every opponent in the steepest climbs.. What was is? Ridiculous!! Cecchini&ferrari... And they dare to set they would have won anyway ahahahah!!
