I live in Hooghly district and we experienced pretty much the same sort of devastation as Kolkata city. Our first floor is under construction and one of the windows covered with aluminium sheet that was nailed shut just blew off because of the wind pressure. It took me and my father over an hour, in the dark, to close it with wooden boards and planks. The wind was so strong that it wouldn't let me hold the boards. It was like pushing against me, threatening to throw me off. I'll be honest... I've experienced the 2008 floods in Mumbai and this cyclone was by far the scariest experience of my life so far. And to think we live in proper houses...the poor who have suffered, I hope and pray for their well-being.

@@bshankar766 Bro the guy is right but TRÅILBLÅZER is also correct, here the changes are really less. Even i thought the first thing when she said lets open it. But it won't happen that easy and also needs some other criteria to make it happen which i cannot explain it here but to just give an idea its something like vacuum( due to pressure difference) and then you needs an outlet to break that vacuum real quick. It is definitely possible if surrounded by high pressure from all sides and suddenly one side becomes low pressure or vice versa, which is rare as she is in a flat(room) and the building seems really wide to make this phenomena possible. To vision how it would have looked like? She would have been sucked or pushed by an Alien Machine trying to escort, you into there ship floating in air while you are at the ground.The conclusion is: Do not try this at home what she just did in Cyclone. But i was actually thinking for Paragliding(Just kidding you need more height for it), at least better than getting sucked and dying (sarcasm) :P All readers of this please pray that the affected areas are recovered soon.

@Jambu Lingam man... It's best possible way to reduce land use ... If more people could be accommodated in very little ground space by vertical consteuction.. then very little land will be used for residential and offcie purposes... So that more land could remain untouched and forested .. which results in carbon neutrality ..nowadays farming has to be done indoors... With vertical farming bioponics technology.....agricultural sector is also a bane for environment.. not much green as you see... Only the forests and trees could save the oxygen and cleanse the air , land and water...

Moral of the Story: Gated community is also not safe.
@sridtns92684 жыл бұрын
Gated community is worst. People who likes to be controlled lives there.
@genten7774 жыл бұрын
Paul: Gated community is indeed safe in packed cities like Kolkata teeming with poverty stricken people that seldom have access to clean water and a pot to piss in. Gated communities keep those people away from the rich and therefore keep them safe from being robbed. It truly is as simple as that!! Please don't forget that, ( painful as it is to swallow) India is a land of steep disparity between the rich and the poor and therefore since the have nots out number the haves, the haves have to protect themselves in what ever way they can ie live in gated communities!!

Pl don't jump to conclusions. If it happened to any of us, you will also be terrified. A person living in slum lives with danger every day. So mentally they will be strong despite going thru difficulties. In this case, when you always live with comforts, your fear will be real and more. She would think what if building collapses. Becoz first time in life she is experiencing extreme weather. So please understand why she is crying. I am from Belurmath . It was a horrific night specially between 6 pm to 10pm. There was no electricity. I was sitting on the floor with family members and my 6 months old daughter crying because of the sound of the wind and darkness. We all were scared and felt like crying. On every banging sound from the terrace we used to see each other's faces in that dim light as if it was the last time we are seeing each other. Suddenly we heard blasts around 10pm near our building. My father opened one window carefully to see that the meter room of the nearby residential complex was burning . All were alarmed. Somehow the fire was brought under control by throwing sand and using fire extinguisher. Whole night we were not able to sleep because of fear. Today in the morning we saw that the tree beside our building is uprooted and fallen on the tilted electric pole. Local police came to assess and may be by tomorrow it will be removed. Here many big trees has fallen on GT road. Birds are dead lying here and there on the streets specially crows. Here few houses where ceiling was not concrete got broken. My family is safe but poor people has lost everything here in West Bengal .There is a huge loss of life and property. It's the Worst year of this decade. As if pandemic was not enough that this cyclone also emerged.

But categorizing what actually is a CAT 2 cyclone into a CAT 5 cyclone is just wrong FACTS. And wrong FACTS are being challenged. No competitive intentions by anyone of them. And neither should anyone tell us that we faced all those shits because of ENJOYING MEDIA ATTENTION or for just 10 minutes. This is even worse because you do not even recognize the pain of someone who has faced even worse situations. Even now reputed journalists from WB using Fani's video and passing it as some location in WB just to gain attention that too when all those videos were actually not shown by any media extensively. Neither were we complaining about lack of media coverage. One day after Fani reports came from some National Media as well as National print media outlets that AP and WB are worst affected, some even told that it made landfall at WB, completely bypassing Odisha. We still stayed put. But don't tell us that this cyclone is too OP and we faced nothing because you don't know how difficult it is stay without electricity, communication, water or food in the capital city of a state for 1 month. See our local media for gauging the extent of damage. WB atleast has telecom network even after 1 day that they are able to tweet out or post videos. We did not have that much facility. And then some people even tell that BBSR IS POOR AND KOLKATA IS RICH. So, don't form impressions from a small set of people. It's always damaging to write out things without knowing the full context of it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn2yc56dpJVlj9U kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXexeIpvmbObo5I kzbin.info/www/bejne/raC2f5lml8qJl5I
