I was running around city go to 3 of Car work shop but NON of them will do it for me as they said they have no time. Police start to control all car on the street and catch all cars that not in order (example light missing etc.) One shop told me that I should try to change it by myself .. Only question is HOW? So I brought Bulb from their shop and watching your video which is very very clear explanation and here we go! Done in just 10mins. Thank you so much Cyd. This really helped me change the headlight bulb, and it was easier than I had thought despite not being able to see everything. I used a dental mirror as someone had suggested somewhere and my cellphone flashlight. For me, I still had a rubber protection thingie attatched which needed to be pulled out, it was a bit tight but came back in really easily. For the clip, it wasn't just to push it back in for me, that bit was actually a bit difficult, and I had to use the mirror and slide it to the one side while pushing into the clip. I am writing this in case someone else finds it a bit challenging. The mirror part really helps to see exactly how the clip is constructed and how the thing metal wire thing goes into it, though I probably should have used a larger mirror.

Perfect video, thank you - managed to do both in 5 minutes. Note about other videos, you do not need to remove the bumper! Compared to other cars I've owned (looking at you, MkI Focus), there's plenty of room on the battery side to get the bulb out. The rubber cover should be pulled out after you've disconnected the power connector. Then you can remove the clip/bulb.

Excellent video, but to add a couple of points: the socket can stick to pins due to years of light corrosion on the bulb pins, so inject a tiny amount of WD into where the wires enter the socket, this will spread into the contacts making for easier removal. If yours has the rubber boots they will pop off with a good tug, on re-fitting, smear a film of vaseline onto boot contact surfaces, also on bulb pins (after clip is fastened), boot and socket will then fit effortlessly. Also use one of those extendable mirrors (ebay), makes jobs like this much easier.

Wonderful channel and videos! I was wondering if you recommend to upgrade the headlight bulbs on the C1, mine is running very dim, maybe some LED?
@CycloneCyd3 жыл бұрын
Changing the bulbs to LED is a no no here in the UK and with good reason. Most retrofit LED bulbs are utter rubbish, they destroy the beam pattern and can overheat melting the reflector❗ You could try a pair of these Philips Crystal Vision bulbs. I've heard good things about them, but they aren't road legal in the EU so they aren't very common. Cheap enough to worth a try I think. bit.ly/Philips_Crystal_Vision HOWEVER: I have found an LED based product that may do the trick. I'm planning to buy some and try them out to assess performance and reliability before I can recommend them. bit.ly/H4_LED_projector

@CycloneCyd2 жыл бұрын
First make sure the bulb is fitted correctly. My MoT tester says about 60-70% of beam problems are caused by fitting issues with the bulbs. If it is, then get a garage to set your beam for you - it's very difficult to get right at home. Garages use a beam aligner (expensive kit!). Ask them to set the lights at 0.5% not the usual 1% for better range on dip.

Hello folks, something I've just realised: you should find a rubber cover behind the H4 headlight bulb. it pulls off really easy once you've disconnected the bulb. It goes back on easy enough too, but as you see we've lost ours lol
@74HC045 жыл бұрын
Thanks for adding this detail - I was about to point this out... :) I the rubber cover fits on two concentric circular plastic flanges of the headlight assembly. I found it easier to pull the cover inside-out to press the inner ring into position first (sealing against the bulb's base), then the outer ring. Also, the job is so much easier if you have a small mirror help you locate the wire clip!

In all the lamp positions except the headlight H4, YES. Why not the H4 I hear you ask. Because the vast majority of LED H4 conversion bulbs are CRAP. They destroy the beam pattern, putting LESS light on the road and dazzling oncoming drivers. And are illegal here in UK for this very reason For the H4, consider these: bit.ly/H4_LED_Proj_Conv - there's even a review from someone with a 107 in Poland. Don't make his mistake though and remember to adjust the high beam screw. I haven't tried these myself yet as I've only just discovered them, but I shall do later in the year.

I think he said CANBUS. Canbus is a protocol that is used inside the car for communication between different computers. Some cars probably use it for the headlight. This means that you probably can’t use custom led bulbs. This can cause errors. But in this case you can, because it doesn’t use it for the headlight.
