These are beautiful. I like the look of Cycnodes and Cycnoches (there are two kinds and your said it correctly twice :))!) They can get so large, which is why I don't have them, so I keep my collection to mini catasetums, but I'm tempted to make room in my grow shelves 😍 I envy your lovely outdoor grow space

Pls show us more of your catasetum plants so beautiful flowers and what type of fertiliser you are using ?

The season is nearing the end. I promise to showcase them more next growing season. I use a standard 20/20/20 with cal/mag supplement at half rate. Over the Summer I apply it every other watering (not cal/mag though > once a week). Right now I start reducing application to once a week and I stop fertilizing plants which are dropping leaves.

@@orchidhouse not good _ 2 wks😕 it seems cynodoes blooms lasts less while catasitums blooms tends to pollinate often but we so intrigued we simply happy with the blooms we get. Happy growing . Thank you .

Hello...I just have the wine delight then as you mention it prone to rot..i only have one bulb..i try applying keiki paste on the buds...can it develop new plant there??hoping u notice my question...thanks..

Hi there! I am not familiar with keiki paste and cannot answer your question. If you want to have a back up plant, in my opinion a division is better than a keiki for Cycnodes. When you separate the keiki, the wound can easily infect and rot the bulb. You need to spray peroxide a few times and use cinnamon powder to avoid problems. Divisions of catasetums are easy as they can usually thrive from one single bulb, unlike most other sympodial orchids which need at least 3 bulbs. The most important feature is that the 2 bulbs that you would divide into 2 plants should both be very plump and hard at times of dormancy to increase your odds of success. I hope this helps..

Sweet smell, different from many catasetinae. Tough to describe but I would say honey candy?

They both last approx. 2-3 weeks. If you have multiple spikes and they don't open all at once, it will be longer
