Keep the videos coming. I especially liked that you are sharing the part costs and sources. These videos will be a great guide for me in the future when/if I have to do the same on my TR6.

Thanks! I plan to do a video in the near future on my spreadsheet with all the parts choices, and the cost. I am a little afraid of that one. My general rule of thumb is to never add up receipts!!!!

So why no seals? I'm blessed with several friends who are machinists, one next door, the other about 3/4 of a mile away, and the other two in nearby towns. I do the electrical and controls work for a couple of them so it's a symbiotic relationship. :) Very informative as always.

Must be nice to have machinists close by you can lean on! Re the seals, multiple forum posts convinced me they were not original, and/or optional. I may be wrong here, but that was the best info I had... www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/68251-tr-6-valve-oil-seals/ www.mg-cars.net/triumph-tr6-bbs/valve-stem-seals-2006092119435817183.htm

@@triumphrestoration7403 It is. :) Tomorrow I will be heading the Thurston's shop to install the new ballast resistors for his spindle drive. It let go the other day and caught on fire. I traced the damage down to four resistors that ended up looking like something out of a Salvador Dali exhibit, as well as two power transistors that had shorted and a cable harness that melted down. I've got one of the resistors, the other one is on a slow boat from China (literally). I've already patched up the harness, and instead of four 100 ohm, 150 watt resistors in parallel, we are going to go with six 150 ohm, 100 watt resistors in parallel. It works out to being the same resistance and power rating as the originals. But cheaper. :) The control board shows every indication of it having survived the event, so I'm hoping to get lucky with that. Finding a schematic on a 1980 Yaskawa CP-CQ drive is a lost cause. So seals weren't installed on the original engines then. Probably a good idea to leave them off in that case.
