This song and band are both like nothing else out there, it’s such a shame they had to disband especially after producing such nice songs with great lyrics and videos and live performances. If they were still active today I think they could’ve been very successful

Here comes Queen America To punish all the barbarous Here comes Queen of Peace and Freedom Leading strong executioners What a beautiful figure, brighter than sun It makes people blind What a beautiful voice, it’s clearer than stars It makes people dumb The spears fall down on the lake Fulfilled with tears, tears Her torchlight shines on the earth Her torchlight shines on the earth How proper the wisdom, your majesty! It makes monkeys wise How proper the anger, your majesty! It lets people die How long you’ve been waiting, your majesty For the order is fair and square How deep you’ve been saddened, your majesty Such evil sods here and there The hammers fall down in the air Fulfilled with fear, fear Her torchlight shines on the earth, Shines on the earth, shines on the earth Here comes Queen America To punish all the barbarous Here comes Queen of Peace and Freedom Leading strong executioners Here comes Queen America Down on your knees and praise her now Here comes Queen of Peace and Freedom Ring the bells of peace ahh Here comes Queen America….. Here comes Queen America…..

As an American, I think it’s a fair critique. Makes me feel a weird mixture of sad and frustrated. I think America being a global hegemon means that we’ve had a lot of global peace keeping thrust upon us, but unchecked power comes with a lot of negative consequences. It’s not good when any one entity is judge, jury, and executioner. I’d say a lot of us carry shame in how our society has trampled over others for a “prosperous” America. Some people have strong cognitive dissonance and can’t accept that it is possible to love your country and also hate what it has done (as is the “anti-woke” movement that claims that recognizing faults in our country amounts to being hateful and unpatriotic). I hate what America is becoming and is (which we’re becoming transgressive socially and economically and backsliding politically), but I also love what it stands for to others and what it has always aspired to be. As other countries are finally passing us in global development metrics, the era of American exceptionalism is finally showing cracks. It’s important to recognize that a country can be a pillar of what it means to be empowered as an individual and represent freedom from tyranny, and at the same time be the tyrant for other peoples that do not fall in line with our beliefs. Every country has done heinous things, but few countries have as much power as mine does to impact everyone else’s lives. Hopefully we can aspire to be more like a literal interpretation of “Queen America” someday (and not the sarcastic interpretation of “Queen America” as an unchecked tyrant dispensing “justice” that we are closer to today)
