Amsterdam is crazy expensive for almost all Dutch people. Even parking there is super expensive. I think most expensive European city to park. Like literally nobody can afford to live there.. also Amsterdam is super left wing whereas the Netherlands in general is right wing.

@@alessbritish228 it's split, mostly places in the countryside and in the south have higher Christian populations and that's where most of the votes for the Christian parties are. However the Netherlands is a very small country so doesn't large expanses of countryside. Overall I would say the Netherlands is more left wing than the UK and US but less left than some other places in Europe. A large portion of people in Amsterdam don't even celebrate Christmas and a lot of the shops don't have Christmas things. (Instead they have Sinterklaas, which is non religious). I hope this helps. N.B. I am not Dutch myself but my partner and his family are, and that is where I got this information, so if anything is wrong I'm sorry

I am an Utrecht student, grew up in The Hague/Rotterdam, and work full time in Amsterdam now. So Ive seen the styles of all the big cities in the country. I think Rotterdam definitely has the best style, it’s the most interesting/colourful/fun, I think the vibe of the city is truly Unique. Amsterdam is great, but the style and culture gets stuck In a rut because it caters to a mainstream (liberal but not anything new really). Rotterdam is cutting edge, amazing culture which is alive and profoundly progressive. The Hague and Utrecht are both sort of somewhere between Amsterdam and Rotterdam (both geographically and culturally) probably Utrecht is a bit more Amsterdam and The Hague a little more Rotterdam. The Hague has a beach vibe to it, and Utrecht can feel new and interesting because of the students.

Grew up in Frankfurt / Berlin, spent 3 years in The Hague and now been living in Utrecht for 1 year. Fully agree. I visited Amsterdam a few months back and I was so pleasantly surprised. I don't smoke, I just wanted to see the city because of the art, architecture and because it's the capital of one of the most progressive countries in the world. I've seen enough European capitals by now to expect to be disappointed when I visit one I've never been to before, but that wasn't the case with Amsterdam. I wasn't expecting every single street to look like a postcard, I wasn't expecting the art museums to be so thrilling (let me tell you, Van Gogh museum was nearly a spiritual experience), I wasn't expecting cosy cafés with insanely good espresso, and centuries-old pubs with excellent local beer. Amsterdam is by far the most beautiful city I've seen so far (I'm saying this without having been to Italy yet), but the absolute highlight was how friendly and relaxed every local person I met there was.

As a fellow art lover, it was so refreshing hearing you talk about your appreciation for artists and what they represent. It's tough to find people who carry a similar adoration for art as I do (which usually results in me going to museums and nerding out on my own). So, it was so nice listening to your take on new and emerging artists as well as classical ones. Also, I'm so impressed by your care for tznius, especially when going to places that are known to not always be welcoming of jews. Enjoyed this, initially just thot another Unknown Vlogs rip off but enjoyed your take of what people are wearing. I just got back from Amsterdam, so already missing the city
@CynicalDuchess2 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching. I think if you look at any genre, you will find many creators spinning their own take on the same subject, i.e Impressionism: Monet / Renoir, sitcoms: Friends / Seinfeld, KZbin: unknown Vlogs / Karen Britchick. no one owns a genre, there are simply creators creating within the same genre and working together to form a canon of work. and even if you did stumble upon a creator borrowing and taking inspiration from a certain creator, give them time to develop as they experiment and find their voice :). I used to get so much hate from followers of a certain street style vlogger simply because I dared to put out street style vlogs as well. The horror :/. I'm glad that people are loosening up and realizing, just like theres room for both a lost leblanc and a drew binksy in the travel sphere, there is room for more than one vlogger in the street style sphere.
@legitheat2 жыл бұрын
@@CynicalDuchess anyway I enjoyed your video but maybe preface the video by paying homage to the OGs like a unknown vlogs
@CynicalDuchess2 жыл бұрын
as I only stumbled upon Unknown vlogs after almost 5 months of doing street style vlogs I'm going to have to say no to that. Again, there is an Elitism amongst the street style genre that I don't see anywhere else on youtube. Does Elena Taber need to credit Michelle Choi just because they both do living alone in NYC vlogs? I really don't think so and no one is asking her to. I actually never saw Unknown vlog's berlin video believe it or not. Maybe I'll go check it out if you recommend it and enjoyed it. the reason for that is I actually find street style vlogs very very boring to watch (like everyone's, i'm not pointing to anyone in specific) and I gave up watching them about a year ago (which is why I like to include stories and bits of vlog into mine). I don't know why this elitism exists in this genre only and it drives me, as well as a few other people ive spoken to in this genre a bit insane. but it is what it is. either way, thank you for the conversation. This topic actually drives me insane and I can rant about it for ages.
@fatii82812 жыл бұрын
Karen started what r people wearing your right no ones owns it but there is always that person that started & they should be acknowledged
@CynicalDuchess2 жыл бұрын
I think the general rule on youtube: is acknowledge if you took direct inspiration from someone who did the exact same video as you. so if I made a video titled: 'flying across the world to surprise my best friend' I would credit Kelly Wakasa for inspiration. However, if I moved into a creator house and started making vlogs centered around my roommates, I would not credit him, even though he also belongs to a creator house (urmomshouse), because this is a genre, not a specific video idea.
