I was taught that the first true mammals are cynodonts with a lower jaw composed of solely the dentary bone. However, I now see an increasing amount of debate as to which advanced cynodonts can be considered true mammals.

It's good to see that cynodonts of the Triassic were also able to prove the mammalian body plan wasn't inherently "inferior" to archosarian and dinosaur competition during the Mesozoic. You could even argue that mammaliform cynodonts were recognizable as mammals before even dinosaurs evolved distinctly recognizable bodies from other archosaurs.
@justinianthegreat14444 күн бұрын
If we are inferior to archosaurs, why are we pushing archosaurs to endangerment and serve archosaurs in our fast food chains? Checkmate archosaurs
@norarivkis2513Күн бұрын

They made us possible, these little and big guys are our actual creators (ancestors), what I find extremely fascinating. I could watch a whole series on cynodons and early mammal evolution, really: about the most underrated (and to some extent poorly understood) branch of science. So many people studying religion or dinosaurs and so few studying these ancestors of us!
@b.a.erlebacher11394 күн бұрын
A lot of early mammalian or pre-mammalian fossils were found in the last few decades, and some of them are volcanic victims from northern China in fantastically good condition. So this is a lot of relatively new stuff, very exciting!

Hey Dr. Polaris, right after the evolution and the history of the Megalosaurs, why don't you get to think of a suggestion and creating a KZbin Videos all about the evolution and the history of the Prehistoric Marine Reptiles called the Protostegidae (Protostegas), the Extinct Marine Testudines (Turtles) that may have thought to be are the relatives to the Extant Leatherback Sea Turtles, such as Archelon, Atlantochelys, Bouliachelys, Calcarichelys, Chelosphargis, Cratochelone, Desmatochelys, Iserosaurus, Kansastega, Notochelone, Protostega, Rhinochelys, Santanachelys, Teguliscapha, Terlinguachelys, Pneumatoarthrus, and Ocepechelon in the next couple of weeks to think about that one coming up next?!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍👍👍👍
