Cynthia Erivo Dishes on the Private Oscar's Luncheon

I do not understand why Cynthia gets no attention from the British Media. It's truly astonishing that Cynthia who already has a Tony, Emmy and Grammy awards and was a double oscar nominee for Best actress and original song for 2020 oscars has not been interviewed on British TV. Cynthia has never appeared on Britain's GMB, This Morning, Graham Norton, BBC Breakfast .Why is this? surely this must affect the promotion of the film and actress. This needs to be addressed. So disappointing.

Cynthia doesn't get the press she deserves because she's black. There. I said it. And I don't care who doesn't like that I said it. Hollywood adores and has plenty of work for British actresses if they are white, be it Jane Austen-like period pieces or contemporary dramas. On those rare occasions when Hollywood makes a film that requires a black female lead, Hollywood prefers to hire black British female actresses who are mixed-race. Cynthia is neither. And if Hollywood isn't making the type of films that would cast you constantly as they do with Keira Knightly, Carey Mulligan, Florence Pugh or Felicity Jones, then as far as the British press is concerned, you might as well not exist.

@@LeeBeeDeeTree51 I totally agree with your analysis. Hollywood is a haven compared to the British film industry. Period Dramas are a speciality for us Brits because you can keep the casting 100% white. Then of course you get British actors like Laurence Fox who thinks diversity in film is political correctness, at the expense of true talent and casting black actors in certain roles is too much of a political statement. Cynthia is a major talent. A star. I cannot think of another actress with the same pedigree in terms of talent and awards. British actresses especially if they are doing well in America are feted by British talk shows but Cynthia has not done an interview on British TV. I have to agree the snub is because she is black. British chat and daytime shows are hosted by white British celebs who have no interest in Harriett Tubman and would struggle to conduct an interview. British TV has no black people hosting daytime TV or chat shows.

@@axe7064 Fox was so anxious to slam political correctness that he got his facts wrong. When he said that seeing the Sikh soldier in the film 1917 , riding on a truck with white soldiers took him out of the moment because it was unrealistic, he didn't realize that this was actually historically accurate. While MOST people of color who fought in WWI for the allies fought in all-black or all-Indian units, there are old army records and photographic evidence that there were some men of color who came from British port cites who served in mostly white units. And in history class I recall seeing a photo of a unit of French marines from WWI that had white and black soldiers.
