I just noticed that this song uses the same sample as Westside Connection's “King Of The Hill”. It also samples Terminator X feat. Chuck D & Sister Souljah's "Buck Whylin'", Melvin Bliss' "Synthetic Substitution", Dr. Dre feat. Group Therapy's "East Coast West Coast Killas", a vocal sample from the 1995 movie "Friday, and Cypress Hill's own "How Could I Just Kill a Man". “Ice Cube Killa” has never been released officially.

I love em both so much. Cube pioneered shit, but so did Cypress Hill. People don't realize how many white suburban people got into rap because of Cypress Hill. Yeah of course there were others before them like Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, even N.W.A., but Cypress Hill brought the WEED so strong in their tracks. It brought lot of people together. I had a brother that was 5 years older than I was. Our father moved us from a shit hole neighbor hood that had a lot of criminal history. CHICAGO CRIME SHIT, and moved us about 3 towns over. Biggest thing it was from Cook County to DuPage. Chicago is in Cook County. It was a world a difference in how the people were even tho it was only a short 15 minute drive away. So my trouble making brother who partied hard and got in a REAL REAL LOT OF FIGHTS. He introduced me to a lot of shit when I was just becoming a teenager. Rap was very much a part of my life. Beastie Boys, Run DMC, and N.W.A. and Easy E as soon as they came out. So come the time of my being 15 and a sophmore about to turn 16 with friends who drove, Cypress Hill came out. House of Pain. Beastie Boys were already around. Public Enemy had their thing with Anthrax. Cypress Hill had a HUGE impact. But Ice Cube was fucking Ice Cube and starring in movies. It's hard to choose a winner, but for right now. If I had play list of Cypress Hills 15 best tracks and Ice Cubes best 15 tracks I'm going with Cube.

The chorus "Throw your (blank) in the air, and wave it like you just don't care", is an old Hip-Hop phrase/trope-going back to the early 80s, originating on the East Coast. So if anything, B Real and Cube, borrowed/stole that hook. Cypress overreacted. I think Muggs may have been the instigator. He's from the East Coast; he's familiar with the hook: " Throw your hands in the air, and wave them like you just don't care". On another side, B-Real wouldn't have wanted this to get too racial, seeing as how his mother is Afro-Cuban. His DNA wouldn't have taken it there, comfortably
@whups17443 жыл бұрын

@BA2day3 жыл бұрын
@@kazpietras5077 back when Cube was working on the Friday soundtrack he reached out to B Real to let them know he wanted a Cypress Hill track on it. Cube then went down to meet them at their studio to discuss. When he was there Cube heard Cypress' "Throw Your Set in the Air" and immediately said that was the single he wanted for the album. B Real declined the request, letting Cube know that the track he wanted was going to be their feature song for their new Temples of Boom album they were about to release. Cube ended up putting "Roll it up, Light it up, Smoke it up" by Cypress on the Friday soundtrack.. but didn't leave without taking a little snippet of the track he wanted for himself. When the soundtrack came out, B Real and the Cypress crew gave it a listen.. only to find a familiar line on Cube's hit single, 'Friday'. Cube released the Friday soundtrack April 1995.. and had this line on his single "Friday" "Oh yeah Throw your neighborhood in the air If you don't care Oh yeah Throw your neighborhood in the air If you don't care" Cypress released Temples of Boom October 1995.. and had this line on their aptly titled "Throw Your Set in the Air" "Throw ya set in the air (come on) Wave it around like ya just don't care Throw ya set in the air (throw it up homes!) Wave it around like ya just don't care" When the Cypress boys heard the line from Cube they did a double take.. and claimed that the dude they considered a friend had pulled a fast one on them... and the beef began.
