Cyril Scott was an incredible man. Much is unrealized about his genius in his music, writing, poetry, furniture making, his talents within so many extreme diversities including his theosophical, spiritual beliefs. Having read his Initiate trilogy by the pupil they opened up a new world of realization for me. A great man well in his time and before his time leaving for us so much work that always opens up new bounds of thought and consideration. As with so many of that day, Cyril Scott discovered and realized a rapidly changing world which he could see clearly as being spiritually lacking and harmful. His writing, music and poetry reflects this and the need for deep reflection and repose of our nature as a being with a spirit and sensitivity that required a true understanding of itself and our place and journey.

I first read _The Initiate_ years ago when I was 22. It's absolutely astounding! Without Anthroposophy, there is no cultural forthcoming of mankind anymore. Scott subliminally mentions it in his release of the diary of a light-seeing boy, where he writes: "In Germany they're maintaining a science about the spirit." We're in a time, where it all decides between true Anthroposophers, who'll survive the coming catastrophes and all kinds of materialists, who will go under.

its an absolute mystery to me that scott hasnt received more recognition. to compare him to debussy is an accolade in itself, but he had his own voice. i highly recommend his first piano concerto, his orchestral piece 'early one morning' and his famous piano piece lotus land. he was somewhat of a renaissance man and wrote books on natropathy, spiritualism and occultism. a fascinating man who wrote fascinating music. well played mr watkins.

He absolutely does have his own voice -- I should say his own impressionistic voice. This really doesn't sound like the French guys.

@@uncawizard Absolutely agree, Malcolm.

The artist and his 'cello are nicely matched. Only a musician that plays as well as this man should have a 'cello with a voice like that. It's so rich.

Does anybody know where one could obtain the sheet music for this concerto?
What is this painting or photo called or artist referred to as?

This style reminds me of something. Did Scott do any film scores?
@nakedmambo7 жыл бұрын
I'm not pointing any fingers, but Richard Rodney Bennett's film music sounds a lot like this. Scott's work precedes Bennett's.
