I am Chinese, not from China nor HK. My country has so many ethnicities, 10 times worst than HK, and it wasn't easy times when we self govern. But people are United and disciplined, because we know we had nothing to offer to the world. Sadly HongKong is exactly the same now! Any China big coastal cities will takeover all the HK interests. So, HongKongers have to join force with her parent China. When in Germany, do like the Germans do! And do it better ! Only then, HK will continue to enjoy whatever have been.

More than 90% Hong kongers are proud Chinese but it is few radicals who fall into Western propaganda and caused trouble. And they are used by westerners to spread more propaganda. This is the reason why real thing is important. The silent majority hong kongers are silent because they know few Hong kongers don't represent their sentiment and belief system. If they think Hong Kong protest by few radicals would create history, they are living in a wild dream or they are living in a bubble. Anyway, truth matters and sometime it hurts. Don't cry westerners ..Hong Kong and Taiwan are part of China no matter what you say and do. Period.

When we listen to many young HongKongers speak, many of those pro-British "freedom frighters", we sympathise with them for having mouths full of broken English. For most HK people who were against the bill, they just did not look into the details of the bill, or to put it simply, they did not care about the details. Frankly speaking, I'm a supporter of democratic ideals. FYI, Chinese gov has been promoting 10 core values which include democracy. The problem is, again, too many noises are in the play to twist the direction of democracy. You don't listen to politicians/media lecturing you about policy 1 is good and policy 2 is bad, you need to do your own research and find out. People need the necessary education to understand what's going on on the international stage and how their domestic policies will have an impact on their lives. The challenge is, the speed of development of human societies is often FASTER than the speed of development of EDUCATION. People don't know what's going on, how can they vote and decide for their country? With the lack of education, the more democratic a country is, the more chaotic it will become. Having to vote is a RESPONSIBILITY, not a RIGHT.

21:08 I'm not a law student, but when the law was available, I downloaded it and took 10-15 mins to read it. The law, for a non law student and a Hong Konger Chinese who has been living abroad for many years, was quite easy to read. Shame on anyone who hasn't read the law and speaks about it.

Great discussion! Many observers or commentators over-emphasized "two systems" and pretty much igored "one country," which actually comes first in the expression. If US were crazy enough to allow Texas run a somewhat different political system, would Taxans think of themselves non-American?

I really enjoyed listening to Keybros; they are excellent representatives for HK youth. I do, however, think that there were lots of missing points in the argument about the NS law, as it is not clearly defined what constitutes breach of this, and there have been HK nationals who have been taken to black prisons on the mainland. I didn’t like the violent protests last year, but it’s also important not to let things go unchallenged.
@htlow3598

"... it is not clear what constitutes breach of.." @KungZoo, it is clear in this part of your comment that you have not read the NS law because it is clearly defined there.

@@htlow3598 I'm afraid it is not clearly defined what constitutes a breach of "national security." It is very nebulous.
@htlow3598
@htlow3598 2 жыл бұрын
@@soggymoggytravels , I accept the words 'national security' was not clearly defined but most Chinese are aware the cry for HK independence (which was propagated by the rioters) is definitely against national security. If you think the NS law was vague, you should read the Western countries' version - they encompasses most things, which then allow them arrest almost anyone they choose although, thankfully, they don't.
@soggymoggytravels
@soggymoggytravels 2 жыл бұрын
@@htlow3598 The point is that the "national security" law in HK IS vague and is being interpreted by lawmakers to encompass anything that goes against the Xi Xi Pee regime. That is simply unfair for all HK citizens. If China wanted to demonstrate superior laws to those of other countries, it should have defined the "national law" more clearly. Using the China vs the West to point out flaws in the argument is unfortunately an over-used tactic at the moment by Xi Xi Pee propagandists. To add: I love Chinese people, but I am against how China's government is ruling. All Chinese people deserve better.
@htlow3598

@@soggymoggytravels , I can't help feeling you are not serious to exchange point of view. (You addressed the Chinese leader as Xi Xi Pee instead of Xi JinPing, his proper name.) Sorry, I shall not continue this exchange. Good bye and good health to you.

A Hong Kong is not important. China is too big, and we do something because some of their radicals are lying everywhere. I think this is unbearable for any country. Every country has its advantages and disadvantages. Small countries are not surprising, but large countries have been enlarged. It feels abnormal.
