If I and my husband has no CF genes, does that mean our baby couldn't possibly have that CF?

Hi Catherine, thank you for your question. Here's the answer from one of our pediatric pulmonologists: "The answer is CF would be very unlikely, but not impossible. We are approaching 2000 genetic variations that are associated with CF. Screening tests that parents would undergo typically look at the most common and most severe variations. So normal screening for parents is very reassuring, but there is still a remote possibility of CF. If a physician feels the clinical picture for a child is consistent with CF, further evaluations for the child may be recommended."
