it actually does not reduce incoming damage before you start to heal, only when you are healing and just a bit right after you stop healing do you take reduced damage. If you press the button to heal but it's not healing you yet you don't take reduced damage.

Yeah it's not an instant damage reduction which kinda sucks. I've been in situations where I die from damage AFTER I pressed take a breather because the animation was too slow for the effect to take place

Man I gotta say I don't like Roadhog since OW2 even after rework. Now it feels like he has 10000 hp especially when healed by both supports. Very often completely unkillable. Just another Orisa in the game
