Own a 712 g2 Utility and quite pleased with it. I have been trying to sort out, with no luck, what model Beretta/Benelli it is based on. Any info would be appreciated!

I have a G2. Decent gun but a real pain in the ass too take apart and clean

Only problem I've had with taking down my g2 was removing the charging handle, i just put in the CZ extended charging handle and I don't think I'll ever get it out

It is NOT a pain to disassemble in the slightest. It's easy peasy and requires no tools. Maybe you are doing something wrong?

Question: Is it normal that the barrel extension which is mounted over the chamber (slides in the receiver) is loose/can be twisted on the barrel?

Really need an updated manual to reflect the changes from G2 to G3. If not printed, at least available online for download.

That action is a little more complicated and reminds of the old A-5 that had heavy and light load friction rings to deal with. One or the other is simpler. Is it 3.5 inch 12 gauge capable?

Yes, check Nordic components. Fit & finish is excellent! I have a +3 on my 712 g2 Utility and the extension protrudes ~ 1/2" past the end of the barrel. 👍👍
