Both the tactical and standard SP01s are SA/DA. only difference with the tactical is the decocker.

Well once you move beyond Canik and SW Shield level guns and graduate to the CZ customs and fine tuned 1911 realm you’ll probably hear a lot more REAL talk about guns…BUD.

@@sgav8r owned several gold cups, kimbers, and currently a shadow 2. Never even held a canik or an m&p. Literally NOBODY thinks CZ triggers are mediocre. You’re alone on this one.

Great review. Pls post an update when you install the Short reset kit from CGW. Check out the CZ P-01 next. It's a little harder to find because everyone snatches them up immediately whenever they become available but if u can find one I definitely recommend picking one up. The P-01 is the compact version the SP-01 is based on. Its perfect for cary especially if you put on nice thin grips. If you like the SP-01 tactical, you will like the P-01. I have both. :)

papermoonmarc I'm actually planning on picking up a Kriss Sphinx SDP soon. I think I'm going to forego the short reset kit on the SP-01 for now and get a Sphinx to play with!

Elite Homes Not at all. The SP-01 is stellar. I did end up selling it to a buddy though. He pestered me and pestered me until I caved and let him buy it. He proceeded to do a bit more work to it such as an aftermarket barrel bushing and fiber optic front sight. The thing is a pure tack-driver now more than ever. He’s really happy with it. Every bit as accurate as a Shadow 2 IMO.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the SP01. I'm getting one next month and really want to start prepping my wallet for the mods you mentioned, maybe more or less. How hard do you rate the install? I have completely disassembled my 1911 frame to install the trigger and many other parts. I've installed a few triggers on other guns like Glocks, S&W-M&P and Sig Sp2022.

Don't prep your wallet, instead practice with the short reset trigger, then decide. Moreover, this pistol is not made for DA pull; stick to SA at the range.

It's a Military, LE it's suppose to be like that you want light trigger pull get the Shadow 2 i know i own 6 CZ i would not change anything before that I get a Shadow you lighten up springs and you can't fire +P ammo .

Decocker trigger (tactical version) is not as smooth as manual safety trigger (standard version)
