I have had this Cz Po9 for almost two years and I love it. I love everything except for its reliability. After 5000 rounds fired, the Po9 has shown 3 major problems that turn me off from considering it has a duty firearm.

CZ makes excellence products and I love their pistols, that's why I own 6 different models of them currently. However, if you dry fire often and put significant amounts of rounds through certain models of pistols you will see these issues for sure, its part of owning pistols. I have owned pretty much every type of CZ pistol since 1987 . With particular models you could experience firing pin retaining pin breakage and trigger reset/return spring breakage. Several after market kits provide upgrades which do provide longer life at inexpensive prices and enhance reliability.

It is known among CZ shooters that you need to dry fire with an oring between the hammer and firing pin. It is a negative for sure and many new gun owners will not know and damage the pin. The CGW pin is an upgrade, but still need to use an oring. If these issues are happening on a stock gun, give CZ a call and let them take care of it for you. They have great service. I have three P09 handguns and all have been 100% reliable with many rounds through them.

The p07/09 is issued as a duty gun all over the world and has been for over a decade, but first time gun owner abuses gun and says its not qualified for duty use… You can have problems with any make/model you abuse, glock included. Dry fire on a snap cap. You should expect to change recoil/ trigger springs at regular intervals, like changing oil/filters in your car. 3000-5000 rounds is a common guideline for this maintenance.

Consider talking to Cz about this issue? Considering the P09 has been used and is still being used as a duty weapon in both military and Leo applications in several countries, perhaps you hit one of the few lemons that can come out of any mass produced product. Hav several Cz models including a p09 with well over 5 k rounds and have had zero issues. Totally surprises me.

This being your first handgun you should not believe all the hype out there that there are pistols that will not have issues. Maintaining pistols including springs is required especially at high round count. Dont delude yourself in thinking other pistols will not need maintenance. The trigger bar spring can wear and needs to be adjusted. A lot of people adjust that spring to make a trigger lighter and it’s not really needed by the way I’ve got way over 5000 rounds in one of my P0 sevens. I upgraded the springs after a couple thousand rounds and the firing pin retaining pin, and I’ve never had a malfunction of any kind through that firearm

No idea CZ USA. It's best to check everything, but I do a trigger job on everything and wought highly recommend the CZ 0.8mm lighter return spring, I pretty much polish everything and use compounds on parts that I don't want to fly off anywhere. I would highly recommend getting aftermarket parts from CZ or other CZ pistols company's in Chezia (or IMI parts of the fit) when I got mine I did a trigger job as in polished alot of parts but even internal parts, but on any CZ I replace the pin with a solid one with high tense strength. Not much work and less than 20 dollars in parts you can get these to some of the best pistols, But you realy don't want to mess with putting in lighter main and slide springs as that's when real problems start happening. As with any weapon, even AKs you should check the springs every so often and you should always clean any firearm you depend on after shootingx it does not take long, also use the correct lubricants. As for me I've gone though over 2k (the majority being low quality ammo as in steel case and reman, by doing a while trigger job and making the gun alotndkoother I did not really need to break it in much. I've changed springs that should be changed every 1k, cleaned and lined it properly. I've only ever had one failure but it was when shooting some very cheap reman, the round did not go off but when I pulled the trigger another time it did and when I looked at the case the primer was in way too deep. I don't know why CZ ships with weak pins (some are fine after many rounds but some get beat up quickly so it's so ething I allways replace. The only part Inrecomend people that shoot slot keep and eye on is the slide stop as that does take a beating but if it's made properly it's fine.

I experienced the same trigger reset issue. The real cause is the disconnector has too much play sideways, it blocks trigger bar from coming up/resetting. I was able to reproduce the problem when having the slide removed & tilting the frame to right when dry firing. Luckily this does not happen in live firing.

I’m trying to get clarification here. After you replaced the trigger return spring and firing pin positioning pin with Cajun Gunworks parts did you have any further problems? How many more rounds have you fired through the gun after installing the Cajun Gunworks parts? Before you had problems with the trigger bar spring was it removed or bent by you trying to tune it? Did you eventually replace the trigger bar support spring with a Cajun Gunworks part? Did that fix the issue? How many rounds have you fired after the repair?

You keep talking about duty weapons but 99% of agencies when it comes to duty weapons you aren't allowed to swap out parts for "custom parts" and there is a reason for this, legality, QC etc. It honestly sounds like you created your own problems with tinkering with something that runs fine when left stock.

My stock P09 I am about 10k thru it. Went to the range today in fact. 300 rounds and not a hiccup. Only issue i have ever had was ammo related. Same ammo in another weapon caused the same issue. It's why i had the CZ out today in fact. Along with an M&P 2.0 and Sig Legion P320. Testing ammo across several guns to make sure it performs in anything i might load it in too. Going to say you probably just got a bad spring. It might "be in tolerance", but at the outer edge of tolerances. Two mating. Parts each within their respective tolerances can easily suffer an issue is they are both at opposite ends of tolerance. You said you do not see a lot of videos on it. Because it is not common. If it was common. Lime the P320 issue a few years back. EVERYONE would have done a video on it. And that you made changes to the weapon are as likely a cause as the weapon itself. Most finicky 1911 I have. Is also the most expensive and tightest tolerances. Some ammo it will not cycle at all. Whereas a $400 Rock Island eats everything. AK v M16. AK runs through anything. M16 much less tolerant of conditions. But it is a better shoting more accurate platform than the AK is.

5000 rounds is about the right time for a modern handgun show some aging, they are not made to last a lifetime anymore, all the CZ products have MIM internals and in MIM is not the same as a machined piece of steel, in MIM you get whatever they melted that day so durability and reliability is a gamble the experience going to be a divided opinion. Oh and I own the p09 with a manufacturer date of 2022. No issues yet but MIM parts are a crap shoot and CZ doesn't make guns that are above challenge when one breaks. Apples to Oranges. This would never happen to a P10f or P10C either which are striker fired DAO pistols like Glock. I own Glocks and CZ's and the P10 series is literally just as good or better than Glocks for less money. Also, this kid just didn't know not to dry fire that model without snap caps or something. He straight admitted to dry firing that pistol a bunch and while yes the Glock won't have issues after 1000's and 1000's of dry fires without snap caps or something neither will the P10. To my knowledge almost all single action hammer fired CZ's can't handle being dry fired without dummy rounds or something to cushion the hammer to firing pin hit. Before there was Glock there was the CZ 75B and trust me that pistol is a tank.

The trigger spring in the p07 and p09 are a weak part in these guns. Yes he should have used snap caps to cushion to hammer fall but this part will still break eventually even under normal use. I have both and have replaced the trigger return spring in both, no dry firing without the included snap caps that came with the gun and I fired live rounds way more than dry fire. The point was that CZ fanboys defend CZ like someone insulted their mothers. ALL manufactures and ALL guns have something that could have been done better.
