My female student watched this and she feels inspired. She just learned how to play bass a year ago and made All-County this year.This is exactly what she needed to see and hear. She is now dressing up as the first female bassist (whoever that is) for our Women's Tea Party at the school. Thank you.

Although I've seen this video several times before I really like to return here as you show the perfect example of how to play emotionally yet not overdoing theatrics on the character of this piece (which I notice watching some of bassists). I'm practicing the Czardas these times and you gave me a really great inspiration (again), thank you!

I think I just fell in love :) My friends used to be in a gypsy band called Loyko and this brings a strange sense of nostalgia! Only Mr Bradetich could come up with an arrangement like this, really pushing the boundaries of what can be done with the instrument, great interpretation.

Lauren, you have the x-factor; passion, precision, a unique personality and more. What's in the near future ?.. symphonic, chamber, recording..... You could supersede Gary Karr as a soloist with your cello like timbre and passion for the music. You are awesome in duos like guitar or piano to breath new life into songs such as these.
@matthewv7895 жыл бұрын
Mike Wes I think many bassists today could supersede Gary Karr. He is great and a pioneer but others are even more talented now, and don’t treat bass playing like a joke or stunt, like “ooh, look what crazy things this awkward, lugubrious elephant of an instrument can do!! Haha isn’t it funny?” They treat it like any other instrument to be played beautifully with passion and emotion. Players like Lauren and Mikyung Sung and Bozo Paradzik make you forget it’s supposedly a hard to play instrument with a gruff deep sound, because when they play it’s just beautiful and effortlessly virtuosic.

Yeah seriously it’s really good. Other people may do it differently, it’s a very expressive piece with a lot of opportunity for different tone colors (Mikyung Sung has an equally wonderful performance from the 648 house concert, for instance, with some different tone colors and tempo/phrasing choices compared to this performance) but this is about as well played as they come.
