"-ček" is used just for masculine words. "House" (gosling) is neutral, so its cute form is not "houseček" but "housátko". Similarly, feminine words and their "cute" versions do not use "ček": hlava/hlavička, ruka/ručička, prdel/prdelka :-) And some words have 3 levels of cuteness: zub/zoubek/zoubeček, strom/stromek/stromeček. Some names have even 4 levels of cuteness: Jiří/Jirka/Jiřík/Jiříček ;-)

The if/when is not always true, though. With future, when is more like "až", so it's going to happen, but we don't know when. Když is like if for the future - if you meet the condition, it will happen.

Truly awesome /ř/, but your /ch/ needs some work… 😉 Czech /ch/ is meant to be just audible ‘hot air’, no ‘throat clearing’ involved. For all practical purposes, it’s nearly just whispered /h/. You may try to whisper “hápeš” to hear what I mean. Actually, for Czech /ch/, we do narrow the throat some, as opposed to Czech /h/, but not so much as to obstruct the air flow. As it happens, the English /h/ (as in “happy”) tends to be narrower, more frontal than Czech /h/, so just whispering (fully devoicing) the English /h/ might serve you just fine to get the right /ch/.
