The Protea plant is the national plant of South Africa ( thats why the big deal around it), it is also an indangered specie (82 different types) about 92% of them grows only in South Africa, the remaining 8% in Kenya and Subsaharan Africa. The tour guide might have missed it.

Thank you for posting this video. You guys have answered my question. I am half black and white and when I went to Australia, I was in Perth and Fremantle and people would ask me. Am I from South Africa and I kept telling them no I’m not. I’m from America and now looking at this video you guys have answered the question. Thank you. These people look like me. If this makes any sense I hope because I’m talking into my phone but I just want to say thank you for this video and I know this is about four months old thank you over here on the big island of Hawaii.

South Afrika is a beautiful and complex place. As Caribbean born man that had dreadlocks when I visited Jo Burg and Cape town I was shocked to see so many Rastafarian men and women there. They bigged me up continuously where ever I went, It was like they knew this brother wasn't from here but he is one of us. I found the Division between Blacks and Cape Colored baffling coming from western society where the 1 drop rule seemingly applies. I was educated by a black South African as to the racial hierarchy , his direct quote ( on top are the whites, then Indians, then Coloreds , then the DOGS, than the blacks ). So that makes the colored people feel as though they are in place in society than the black Africans . As Bob Marley said BRAINWASH EDUCATION ! GREAT JOB WITH VIDEOS KING...... Keep up the good works !

People in the comments making it unnecessarily complicated. Yes Coloured and Mixed IS the same thing genetically, but NOT the same thing socially. Coloured People in the South African context are those mixed race people who have developed a distinct cultural and ethnic identity. End of discussion.

Which is why we find it weird when we see comments by AA proudly telling other AA that they will be classified coloured when they come to SA. Even worse are AA who come to SA and proudly announce that they are coloured here. Why would AA affirm a classification created by the apartheid system to separate black people ?

Anyone can live in that community but people tend to prefer living amongst people with a similar culture and language as it makes life easier. Those people there speak a language called Afrikaans, blacks speak different languages as well.
@kingofhearts1072

I agree, it’s STUPID. Whyte South Afrikaners created that buffer class, and they just don’t get it that this is how they create division and also permanently supplant themselves in as Whytes in South Africa, by mixing with the natives. In Johannesburg, you can see people speak all kinds of languages and still have a community there, so all that language difference stuff means nothing.
@jackal6056

You clearly don't understand the history of South Africa and why people live in certain areas today. You also don't understand coloureds, but you have a lot to say. Coloured came from Malaysian & Indonesian slaves who were brought to SA. They then had kids with the Khoi, whites, Indians etc. Some of the people would have no black between the mix. How then do you call that person black. Unlike in the US, in SA we have enough black people, we are not desperate for numbers so we don't just call anyone black, you have to be black to be called black.

@@jackal6056 No, you’re BRAINWASHED by Whyte Supremacy using that DUMB name based on “skin tone”, how backwards 😑. I know ENOUGH about South Africa to see how some have fallen for the ignorance of Whyte Supremacy. Just choose a name that represents your culture like “Gemeng” cultural people. You can call yourselves “Gemeng” or something that represents you culturally but you’re too brainwashed by Whyte Supremacysts too see the game and how they PLAYED you. What is this 1945?….”Coloured”….🤦‍♂️ They used your community as a buffer class to keep division between you and the other Black South Africans and made you guys feel “privileged” or more “SPECIAL” along with their COLORISM that comes with all of that. But many of you didn’t figure it out, you went along with it, wanting to be “special” & “different” possibly even BETTER in the eyes of the “Whyte Afrikaner”. He used your ancestors to plant his seed in them AND the land so he couldn’t eventually get kicked out even while maintaining his system of “Whyte Supremacy”. He knew if ALL of you were united, mixed or not then it’d be even harder for him to control you all. Call yourselves something that represents your CULTURAL aspect, not some basic remedial skin tone nonsense..😑 Khoi, San, Zulu, and all of those other tribal names have absolutely NOTHING to do with skin tone. Wake up.

In africa the word “colored” is absolutely inappropriate. In the land of black people the word colored should definitely not be used to identify those black people but the other ones. Those black people in Southern Africa should not accept to be called like that.

Surrounded by historic tenacious Table Mountain, the splendid heavenly flowing waters, Czech In Effect brilliantly captures with his 📷 camera. He drives with his hommies along the Table Mountain where one can see the waters. Czech In Effects explores the distinct unique ethnic group, The Coloureds, from an in depth cultural perspective. We learned that moguls, Donald Trump and Oprah Winfrey, were fighting to purchase theb land. [ Isn't ironic that Oprah Winfrey purchased 6.6 million worth of Hawaii land. AND- HER MANSION DID NOT GET ON FIRE IN HAWAII!] Racism seems to still prevail with the terrain surrounding Table Mountain. [ Currently- I am assiduously reading " The New Apartied." I suggest folks to read it to obtain more insight on the cultural terrain.] Those boat models are beautiful.

There are a lot of black and white mixed people who don't identify as coloured because coloured people have formed their own distinct culture/identity. That being said, it's cool to see a video on SA's hoods we need more of this content. I also need black and coloured folk to stop the division it would be really cool to get a long for once lol

Coloured and mixed aren't the same thing. There are a lot of mixed South Africans (like Trevor Noah) who identify as black rather than colored because they were not raised in coloured community. Coloured is an ethnicity of intergenerational racially mixed people in Southern Africa. They've developed their own culture distinct from other racial groups in South Africa

They should choose a name that MEANS that, not “Coloured”. That name sounds backwards af. 👎 They can EASILY choose a South African name that represents cultural mix instead of Coloured. @@kingofhearts1072 My question is why is it such a big deal? Why is it such a big deal to you or to black people? Because the only people who have an issue with it are black people and it literally doesn't affect any black person in SA? So why are people like you so butthurt over it? Clearly, it doesn't affect coloured people and they happily embrace it after reclaiming it. You're cringing over a demographic of people that gave the name a new meaning and purpose. The problem here is not Coloured people, it's you not being able to comprehend why they choose to be who they are. Some people aren't mentally weak to react to names because once it becomes derogatory to you, then it becomes your weakness, and being reactionary to a white man calling you a certain word is like you accepting that he just yanked the chain around your neck. They will have no power over it once you reclaim it and repurpose it. Your approach is very supercilious and skewed, start asking different questions and researching why I it isn't the way you expect it to be.

The raiycist apartheid Whyte Afrikaners created that “Coloured” mix as a buffer class, and unfortunately our mixed bro’s & sisters don’t know/understand that divide & conquer strategy. They(Üeropean colonizers)do that everywhere they go. Then you get colorism and division that also comes with it. They’re using that name “Coloured” that raiycist Whyte Afrikaner created and don’t know the negative dynamics & logistics about it. It’s their choice but I believe they should create their OWN name for their community, not some schitt some raiycist Afrikaners made up in order to keep them separated from their not-as mixed South African bros & sis’s. Mixed South African Brother’s & Sisters, create your OWN name not based off of your skin tone or anything some Whyte Afrikaners want to name you. Y’all are brainwashed using such names, stay united with the rest of your your Black African people, whether you are mixed or not. Stop using that name “Coloured” create your own name that’s more meaningful, and let other folks like Arabs, Asians, or other POC use that “Coloured” moniker/identity.
