One of my favorite Easter eggs that I have yet to see anybody talk about is when Gale's news show is on in Dewey's trailer and playing in the background after Sam and Richie leave, you can hear Gale say in the background "If I ever threaten to get bangs again.. someone stage an intervention" referring to them terrible things she had in Scream 3 🤣
@stephaniegiardina94972 жыл бұрын
She also says "Coming up after the weather, the pros and cons of reuniting with old friends" which can be either a reference to "Friends" or a reference to the fact that everytime she meets up with her old friends it's a slaughter fest. Also, I don't think you mentioned the fact that Roman from Scream 3 is also in that episode of Dawson's Creek and can be seen, along with Joshua Jackson who had a cameo in the beginning of Scream 2 in the classroom scene with Randy!

So, I always felt Scream 4 was a commentary on how in that time there were so many horror reboots. You had the Friday Reboot in 2009, then the Nightmare Reboot in 2010, & before that Texas Chainsaw was doing the Reboot thing. I think My Bloody Valentine was in 2010 as well & Halloween in 2007. So when Scream 4 came out & everyone kinda assumed Jill would become the new Sydney for a new trilogy because that was the big rumor, I felt it was trying to be a Reboot of itself without actually being a real reboot. Whereas Scream (2022) was strictly ReQuel territory especially since it’s now the big trend.

Scream 4 was absolutely intended to act as a "remake" of the original, but that would have worked better if they kept certain deleted scenes. In the opening, Marnie was meant to be found strung up from the ceiling fan and Jenny taped to a chair, imitating Casey and Steve's kills in the original. Then Olivia was supposed to be found with a pet door around her neck, imitating Tatum's death. They even shot a scene of the new characters sat around a fountain discussing the new Ghostface, just like the original. If they had kept these scenes and leaned harder into the "remake" angle, like more kills copying the original (a good example was Rebecca's body being thrown from the roof onto a news van, echoing Kenny's body being discovered on top of Gale's news van), the "remake" aspect would have been clearer. I still love Scream 4, but those changes would have elevated it.
@Duh_D_Rexx Жыл бұрын

Patrick Dempsey was shooting one of the Transformers movies so he couldn't be in Scream 4. You don't have to change your surname to your spouse's once you get married. In the deleted scenes of Scream 4 and in press interviews, they said that Sidney's father died years ago but it's not known if that's canon now. Either he died or moved out of Woodsboro before Scream 4. If the former is canon, then maybe Sidney kept her surname because she could possibly be the last living Prescott and wants to honor her father that way. Although the actor for Neil Prescott is still alive.

Something I noticed that I haven’t seen anyone talk about yet is how in Scream Stu says to Sidney “after you branded him the candyman” about Billy in the scene by the lockers. In Scream 2 when Randy is explaining how the killer could be a woman, he mentions Mrs Voorhees (Billy’s mom being the killer) and “there’s always room for Candymans daughter”. Idk if that was planned as having Sam come in as Billy’s daughter but I thought it was a really cool hint of how planned out the franchise might be.
@TheAmazingAdam2 жыл бұрын
I'd say Sam doesn't have many parallels but TARA does. I'm surprised that you didn't mention Tara's parallels to Laurie Strode so here's me teaching you lol. I was so excited because I was hoping you would of caught the Tara/Laurie parallels. During the opening scene, Ghostface appears right behind Tara much like how Michael appeared behind Laurie during the final act of Halloween. Tara has a broken leg just like Laurie did in Halloween 2. Tara gets chased in the hospital just like Laurie in Halloween 2. Which ends up with an older character who's dealt with the threat, Dewey (Dr. Loomis) coming in to save her and eventually sacrificing his life (Dr. Loomis blowing himself up with Michael from Halloween 2). We all know who Michael ends up being to Laurie in the end, so could the writers be teasing us that Sam will be one day be Ghostface? Hmmmm. I think the writers did that on purpose too, since it's like a love letter to the Halloween franchise. So in turn, Sam is the new Sidney and Tara is the new Laurie, Scream combining two of the most famous final girls into one movie which I find interesting.

I think the toxic fandom commentary gets taken the wrong way a lot of the time; the film doesn't claim all fans are toxic. It just comments on the ones that are. The film singles out discourse over the last jedi which birthed the most famous toxic fandom (the fandom menace) and imo it was for a reason, everyone knows most SW fans have normal criticism. And the toxic ones are their own thing. In fact, the film gives us multiple examples of horror fans that aren't toxic yet also don't like that film in Mindy, who makes it clear she dislikes Stab 8 but isn't up in arms about it. Also, there was a very small subset of scream fans who played right into the commentary with their talk of the film. Aka some low key racism towards the twins / sam and tara. Getting mad over leading female characters which was especially weird when Sid and Gale lead these films.
@goawayleavemealone28802 жыл бұрын
The thing with the Fandom Menace, was that when people managed to remove their heads from their rears and actually listen to people who were part of the Fandom Menace, rather than the bad press from an agenda pushing media, they realised that the Fandom Menace actually had legitimate criticisms. Like Finn being sidelined for Rey despite Finn being the more interesting character. I recognise that we're kind of on the same page, but my thoughts on Toxic Fandom are the same as my thoughts on Toxic Masculinity... it doesn't exist.

I’m here for this content and I can’t wait for Scream 6. Honestly, it’s good for the Scream franchise to have evolved and taken some time off before relaunching with Scream 5 and before that with the TV series (which RIP to Wes Craven, from the films, who died during the first season of the show back in 2015, which the TV show pays homage to in the finale of Season 1 which was cool) which even though didn’t return with the OG Ghostface up until the third season, and even then, was its own separate storyline. I’d like to think that the TV series could perhaps be a series you could analyze in connection to the Scream franchise (especially the 3rd season, cause the real voice of Ghostface, Roger L Jackson actually came back for that season). Just saying 🤷🏽♂️🫣🔥. Also here are my favorite films of Scream thus far, just my personal ranking as far as it goes👻 : 1. Scream (1996) 2. Scream (2022) 3. Scream 4 4. Scream 2 5. Isn't Stab 8 loosely based on the events of Scream 4? In the movie, Wes did say his mom was a character in one of the movies. Also during the first hospital attack, when Sam pushes the table at Ghostface, you can hear Richie's voice behind the mask.
@vanillacokesucks2 жыл бұрын
Seeing how the actors don't play Ghostface and he's played by a stunt man, no, you can't hear Richie behind the mask.

I’ve loved horror since I was a toddler. I think I’m addicted to getting scared. Lol. I’m currently trying to work in entertainment, a bucket list marker; to be a Scream Queen or at least have a dramatic death. Lol. I’m a child of the 90’s ( please, hold your eye rolls lol. ) I’ve met many a horror fan but many seem to not go as deep about the genre’s films down to such meticulous detail. I have met a lot of imitations of Randy Meeks but none so knowledgeable. Horror is an art. I think art matters, it’s worth going deeper even if the pool is shallow because it’s there for and someone swam in it for a reason. I mentioned my childhood because I was left alone a lot, couldn’t afford a cordless until 98 and by then, we finally had caller I’d. I remember when it was cool to have a pager. 🤣 it was scary. Prank calls, babysitting alone; you had to take such precautions. I think that’s why Scream holds such a close place in my heart. It loves horror as much as it’s fans and I could’ve easily fit in it’s world. “ there’s something very real about a man in a mask who wants to kill you. That’s scary “ forgive me if I don’t paraphrase Kristen Bell correctly. I have a feeling you’ll get the reference. Lol. I say all this because you’re a true Randy. Maybe even better, but you got a whole life ahead of you he doesn’t. Lol. Such attention, even as to fluid transition into the Star Wars spoiler alert. Your work is phenomenal. It’s nice to know there’s someone cares as much about the genre. Thank you. 🤟🏻🙃🙏🏻🖤

Very well thought out and detailed review as always. I learned a lot. One thing I wondered in regards to the Dewey death scene. Are we sure the body being loaded in the coroner's van is his? (There is a dead cop at the hospital as well- maybe that 3rd cop from Judy's phone contacts?) I'm not saying it wasn't Dewey in the body bag but it may be the way they can write him back in if they decide to bring him back. 9I couldn't see the name on the body bag tag so maybe others can and comment?)
@svick422 жыл бұрын
Just watched the movie recently and that was my first thought. The only person to confirm his death is one of the killers but they would love for Dewey to be dead. Only one body bag was brought out and they are already in a hospital….. although this could stilllll lead to Dewey being the main killer (what a twist for Scream 6 eh?)

Scream 4 wasn't requel it was trying reboot the series. Where requel is a sequel based on events that happened in first film while being sequel at same time E.g. force awakens becuz it involved new characters while trying to tell new story based on a new hope. Such as blowing up starkilker base

technically Scream 4 was meant to be a remake

Going to throw out a crazy theory. What if Sam is actually Stu's daught not Billy's. Billy was pretending to date Sydney and Sam's Mom had a boyfriend but still slept with Billy. Just like Maurine Prescott. She was in a marriage but slept with multiple people. It is not impossible that she was lonely and angry at Billy and slept with Stu. What do you think???
@ThisiswhyWecanthavenicethings2 жыл бұрын
One thing you forgot Stu killed dewy not Amber it was also done the exact way Stu described to Sydney in the first movie how to gut someone it also happens on the anniversary of the first time Stu stabbed dewy 26 years earlier So ya Stu is still alive

i feel like if liv had a scene before she left mindy, i believe the scenes would be a montage of her and mindy's attack when mindy portrays her uncle randy while liv's scene become similar to olivia in scream 4, when she calling kirby, and straight into casey and steve's scene until she meets the gang again. i'm sticking to it. liv deserves better, she was like casey and stu's fate successor that i can't acknowledge more enough.
