I am so upset they took rotate view out of the context menu. Now they try to get you to click on rotate document and that launches the Buy Pro version ad. Reeee

How does it work as a soldering/inspection/fine work "microscope"? I'm using an old cludge together "security cam" module on a monitor arm for my macro chip identification and solder inspection needs which isn't so elegant and needs a cvbs tv.

Appealing! But there's no reason accurate page separation line finding cannot be done optically these days; that is only a limitation of the software, and I'd like to see offerings that give that accuracy without expensive laser hardware.

Question: as the scanning and OCR is entirely done in sofware, can the software be used with a regular digital camera with 1080p USB 2.0 output. It depends what type of USB device it is detected as in device manager? You could make a folding arm yourself if you have some spare wood, hinges and GU10 LEDs for illumination (like i do).

This reminds me of the artificial intelligence that can recognize carp. This software searched all the pictures on the Internet with fish on them to see if it was a carp. It turns out that carp always have hands on the underside to hold the fish.

Not as good as others. If you have anything glossy, it has a horrible reflection not usable can't read the text. It's good in certain situations. But I paid for mine to discover this issue. Someone that gets it free might not

If this was open source the technology advances would be much faster. They could have laser focus and three cameras pointed at different angles to take into account the curve of the fold or the could use air to blow the paper flat and tunr the pages automaticaly.

Since the thing is usable as a webcam it might be UVC compatible, so no drivers needed to get an image out of the thing. Of course any extra function would not be there, but still

@@gigigigiontis8 Yeah, to me it looked like a lot of the value of this product lays in the software and how it is used to scan documents. If it was just about having a camera on an arm, that could probably be done in other ways too.

The small footprint is indeed very appealing. I’ve got the CZUR 24Pro myself, and while this is a really nice device and scanning is perfect, it is quite bulky and takes quite a lot of space even when stored somewhere on the shelf while not used.

Nice and neat camera but beware that they have dumbed down the software for this model now where the scanning software only takes very basic pictures and doesn't correct for the page curvature or do OCR etc. Kind of disappointing.

Very impressive scans, I could potentially justify this for scanning magazines over the cost of buying the available ones in digital format. However, it's no surprise that a dedicated system to measure distance is better than relying on cameras alone, maybe another company should take note.

Now I'm heading for my "Robert" to find out what the french equivalent for "plonk" is. nb Google translate is not usually "up to snuff" with colloquialisms. ps I can but hope that when the Google really gets it act into gear that it can provide a few meanings for plonk in french: cheap low quality wine and the verb. and of course the pejorative: plonker.

I have the 18Pro and it is a great tool. Agree the big ones are a pain to store, but the quality of the scans and the machine's ability to handle poorly reproduced schematics, build drawings, and aging photographs more than makes up for what is, to me, a minor inconvenience.

I am definitely on a budget so this is going to have to wait but it's better than anything that I've seen before. I wonder if their software is available separately since most of the image recognition and character recognition is all done within software as opposed to within the camera. just treat the source as a twain device. Also I wonder if there is an API for the special functions that could be linked to obs.

CZ in CZUR, if CZUR is a Slavic name: it is pronounced like the tsch in the German tschuess, or ch-sans-e in cheese, or ch-sans-u in chug. It’s a plosive sound, made with tongue in the middle of the palate IIRC.
