I know this is a silly question but are u talking about the 2 Opium war that England and China had or the 1st Opium war because i know that England started another Opium war with China but i don`t remember the year of it because of trade for tea leaves between China and England during and before America broke away from the British Crown because i notice (when Alfred (america) looks straight behind him(next to England) is young Matthew with India and Hong Kong i just wanted to know which Opium War they were talking about because i know that China and England had 2 different Wars for tea leaves and the Opium that England was selling in the black market in China during that timeline

this movie is showing historical evidence back around in 19th century , when japan end it's isolation and having civil war and stuff. 2 japans are refering emperor side and shogun side , and one's who is dancing with are their interferes. and also other world movement (like incidents and topics) included. some must be misunderstanding but this movie is nothing to do with hater to US. it's showing what world looked and it's movement from japan's point .

of the awesomest amv :D historical hetalia is always so awesome. the power play among the empires is nicely illustrated. the video not only shows the end of japan's isolation but also many parts of the industrial revolution, england-china war, great britain's colonies in india, china and hongkong, ottoman empirre, alliance of russia and france, birth of german nation and rise of austro-hungarian empire the 2p japans symbolize the imperialism right? perhaps their faces are still shadows as japan learns more and gains more ideas from western imperialism. of course japan has been looking to expand territory for a long time but by learning from the advanced technologies and idealogies from the west (esp from prussia and england) and with increased pressures and fear of being colonized they became into a powerful and horrible (yet shortlived) empire within a few years..

Basially it's about Japan's emergence from isolationism at the hands of Western nations/empires...the thing with the US specifically is about the whaling industry...hence all the boats. It's really fascinating stuff and I suggest you look into it by searching things such as "Japan isolationism," "US whaling ca. 1800s," and "Japan in 1853" specifically. These will start you off and lead you to more deeper searches. Have fun!!
