In the day I stumbled upon them (I think Columbia House) I was all over this shit. I always look for the underdogs. They put the most effort into their craft. (just like sports, I would rather watch AAA than professional. There is heart put into the craft.) They always disappear to my despair and if not, when they become popular I quit listening. This band was in my regular rotation on cassette along with Poison, Motley Crue, ACDC, Bruce Dickenson and the such. (those are classics [with professional producers] so will always be remembered) I just hope D.A.D is still getting revenue from this and not Warner fucking them over... other wise Jihad! I am getting mad! I would classify that as obscure or underrated. On a side note, around the same time was a band called Tuff-N-Nuff. I can not find any record for the life of me. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. Also, a Japanese metal band with "X" in the title, but it is not the one you find on Google. I listened to it in the 89-91 range. All help would be thankful.

I was 18 in 89 and saw the cassette tape in the music store. I bought it because I loved the cover, went home not knowing what to expect and, boom!, I was hooked forever! D-A-D became one of my favourite bands instantly, and Sleeping my day away is one of my five fave songs from anyone, anytime. Here in Argentine they are all but unknown, but I keep spreading the word!
@tomodonovan59312 жыл бұрын
I did the same with an album from Montrose, had a shark fin moving in a yard with grass. I never played the album for years, and when I did put it on a turntable, it blew me away. Montrose 2 I think the album was called. I liked the art so well, I never thought about playing the album. I collected a lot of albums, but had none from D-A-D. I liked the song when I heard it, but I never bought an album that only had one good song. I will now listen to the full album if KZbin has it. I always thought the title of this song was Sleeping My Head Away, but now understand it was my day.

I miss the musical discovery I had at 18 (1985). Still have many I 'found' like that too. Now get it on YT mainly---just like this one---or the used CD/LP store. What Argentine rock/metal bands should we (USA) know about??? The only one I know is Attaque 77.
@adrianagarzon15932 жыл бұрын
@@spazbobstinkpants Argentina's rock, hard and metal scenes used to be big but, as with the rest of the world, young people has gone to trap, hip-hop, reggaeton and popcorn pop... I will mention a few bands which I like, and hope you'll like 'em too! Some are old, some are still around: RIFF (and Pappo's Blues); Rata Blanca, Alakrán, Hermética, Iorio, V-8, O'Connor, Tren Loco, Catupecu Machu, La Renga, Eruca Sativa, Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota. I recommend you to "copy&paste" the names which, as you can see, are mostly in spanish. There are a lot more, of course, but these will do for now... Let me know if you like 'em!

@@tomodonovan5931 I found it---thanks. Gamma w/Ronnie Montrose. Listening to it now---cool. You might like the first Montrose album 1973 w/Sammy Hagar on vocals (It is simply titled Montrose). @@hansemannluchter643 Thank you for the reply! This song made the charts in Australia, with the local music programs and TV shows playing it all the time. I think D A D even came to Australia once, but I'm not sure. It was a great time to be alive, with hard rock and metal like Crue, Poison, Whitesnake, White Lion and Europe getting a lot of mainstream airplay. Life was so much more simple back then! my God, I forgot how much I loved this song. DAD rocked man. they weren't hair metal, they were alternative, up there with Drivin N Cryin they should have been bigger than they were in the US.
