Mr Baxter is my hero, I’ve been a fan from long before Steely Dan. He’s a standup guy and a real role model for young musicians.Thank you Deangelico for your sponsorship. Kevin Martin West Central Missouri

“The trick to a good melody is, only play the melody.” Huge lesson right there…in that single comment.

The Skunkster has got to be one of the coolest dudes on the planet. Evidently, he's still playing great! The video is very nicely done. I would love to see an ambitious, 5-hour Steely Dan documentary with these production values. Netflix, are you listening?

Jeff is one of the best guitarists ever. Was fortunate to meet him a few years ago at a Medmenham-related event for lack of a better term at a national defense agency.

no hes not one of the best ever unless the list has a few million on it. He is a good player and been in bands that knew how to feature it. I really like his playing, but as a 55 year player myself, i had to say No, he is not one of the best, .. just one of the best you can name.

Hey Skunk! I will forever be grateful that you taught me how to customize the functions of my Stratocaster pick-up toggle switch. Yeah way back in about 1976 in a Guitar Player Magazine instructional article. I still use it today but have upgraded it for a 5 way switch. Amazing!

this was as boring and predictable as those others. nothing to write home about on any level. just a guy playing like an accomplished dad. Yes, I know who he is, love him and can play all his stuff note for note. But this was just a pitch.

Was lucky enough to do backline for the 'Side Deal' with whom Skunk plays, at a gig they did in Grand Bend, ON a couple of years ago. Skunk was great to work with, to listen to, and was a really gracious fellow. He played a Strat through a Fender Twin with a late '80s or '90s Boss multi effects unit. Man did he make that rig sound great.

There’s a 3-part video recently released by Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame CEO interviewing the Skunkster…SUPER TREASURE Of his history…made me tear up a few times. I saw him playing live with the Dan twice and I’ve NEVER seen anything like it. First time was at the Cotton Bowl in 73 when they released Countdown to Ecstasy. Second time was in late ‘73-early’74 in Springfield, MO..it’s a tad foggy. Speaking of… At that show, they brought in this ..fog machine…of some sort that filled the gym with fog. Oddly…Skunk was dancing over to that volcano looking machine and suddenly put his face down on TOP of the volcano-fog machine and the”fog” disappeared for almost a minute..then he danced off WHILE playing. Oh…NOW I get it !!!

I can't remember which one it was guitar player something like that said that Jeff Baxter was working with the government . I am a lefty upside-down Dick Dale and Albert King style guitarist I guess you can call me that after 40-something years but I shied away from the business my cousin owns Eko productions in deer Park Long Island so I've always been around while I was painting mansions in the Hamptons my dad worked on the lunar module for Grumman in bethpage when Grumman left he went down to Melbourne Florida worked and retired for Northrop Grumman my mom also retired from there they finished up with the J-Stars one day I get a call from my mom and says do you know a guitar player named Jeff Baxter I laughed and said not personally but yes I know exactly who you talkin about ! She'd always watch me put pedalboards together for my friends I love that side of music and she said you people are from another world we never had such a good laugh thanks Jeff for serving your country ! And not only entertaining us with some of the most excellent music ever made ! I didn't know you were a comedian to over the years my folks and I had many laugh over Rockstar working with the government ! They're gone now I'm 66 years old and looking back I kind of regret not knowing what these two hands could have created and gave to the world ? But it's a crazy business so painting Mansions was an honest day's work no regrets and as long as my fingers can still move I'll keep playing God bless ! 😂

So, what is the truth about him and Steely Dan? You have one story, Fagen and Becker dumped everybody. But, then you have the other story that he left after they ditched Dias and the others. Then, he says he left because Donald and Walter didn't want to tour. I wonder what's the truth?
