Legendary photo. Three of the greatest of all time. Amazing beat by Dilla, that guitar sample tho

This is D'Angelo on all instruments, not J Dilla.

@@jburleson123 I must admit, those guitar riffs do sound very D'Angelo-esque..

Man I uploaded the wrong photo, but apparently DJ Premier, Alchemist, J Dilla and D'Angelo met that day, so he was most likely around. ambrosiaforheads.com/2016/01/dj-premier-tells-the-story-of-this-photo-with-dangelo-alchemist-j-dilla-in-his-words/ Actually the M.O.P. Feat. Rell - What I Wanna B (Produced by DJ Premier) song mentioned in this article pretty much sounds like a Dilla beat, cool to know he made that beat to imitate Dilla.

Do you have any more info on the track? Like, if it is a sample or fully original, who produced it etc.?

I think D'angelo made beats in his Ensoniq keyboard, and these are basically demos he made on the keyboard. D'angelo did all the demos for Brown Sugar on it, apparently they had this sort of dirty vibe. Bob Power made the record sound clean and smooth and of course that's what made it popular at the moment, but D'angelo wanted it to be rawer, and that's what lead to Voodoo. Pretty sure these are keyboard patches he's manipulating with the pitch bend wheel to make sound like guitars.

Does this contain an interpolation of another song, or is it purely original?

Did Dilla produce this? 😯

This Demo is dope, however i do think the percussion does not do the keys and bass arrangement any justice. If D’Angela was to relay a beat on top of that to today’s standards….. I’m just getting goose bumps thinking about it!!!!
