How do you become King of the realm of St. Stephen... several times over... let me count the ways...
1. Get it all ''wrong''... but none of it was directly your fault.
2. Try to do a show of power and set a new precedent by deliberately getting it ''wrong'' and attempt to have others accept that... which they won't...
3. Get it all ''right'' ... many years later and much to your frustration. And people still won't accept you...
And that is how Charles I Robert D'Anjou became the king who was crowned thrice.
On his road he faced uncooperative vassals, cousins who were quite literally at least once ''removed'', and three ''rules'' of kingly legitimacy.
