I love your outlook on multi classing. Most people are afraid to multi class at all
@TemporalElpis3 жыл бұрын
My biggest problem with multiclassing is missing milestones. For the builds here he assumed you are level 20 and basically always had 11 levels in fighter. If your campaign ends at like level 13 though you probably won't want to multiclass till level 12 because of the extra attack. Multiclassing imao can easily go wrong without a lot of planning and the first step is knowing what your end level is(which can majorly change the usefulness of combinations). But also if you dip too early you can fall behind the rest of the party for quite a while.
@OffbeatOutlaw3 жыл бұрын

Okay, thing about Monk Multiclasses, is that they are unquestionably non-viable for power-builds, however, +10ft movement bonus and adding your wisdom mod to your AC, plus bonus action unarmed strike, are pretty solid benefits for level 1 (edit: movement bonus is at lvl 2). Do they beat any of the other martial classes for damage and raw power? No. Your best Multiclass into Monk is as a non-martial class, that can acclimate to the different ability score requirements.

@@OffbeatOutlaw Oh my! Thank you very much. I enjoy Monks conceptually a lot, so finding out where they fit can be a real thought experiment. Wackiest options I've found are Bladesinger/Monk for insane mobility and high AC as low as level 3, and Druid, since, when you think about it, all animals use unarmed strikes. Which means kung fu wolf murdering bandits (depending on the DM's ruling, because Wild Shape says "Your game statistics are replaced by the statistics of the beast" which is somewhat vague to me regarding martial arts). Also, not all Ki abilities count as spells, which is something even wackier to think about in the context of Wild Shape and multiclassing. Im runnin a fighter/warlock with undead/pact of the tome (BoAS) and duelist/eldritch knight. Definitely not the most "power built" stats at lower levels but gives you INSANE versatility/utility. You can have up to 6 cantrips and 7 or 8 spells by level 6 (3 in each) (short rest to replenish limited spell slots) combined with the form of dread can make some funny interactions since you have the potential to cause fear as well as have spells/cantrips that cause damage if the enemy moves. And thats before accounting for action surge plus the buffs FoD give you. So ba form of dread (cause fear) into booming blade 2x into action surge eldritch blast with or without agonizing blast or 2x melee attacks. Then next turn you can grasp of hadar them towards you 10 feet. Odds are being feared they move at least 5 feet from you and take the extra damage you can repeat (minus the action surge). Combine that with something like chill touch for a necro boss or big undead creature and you can see how the damage could stack (and stop boss from healing) But outside of that you also end up with things like identify and other "utility" spells within the BoAS as rituals to go over any loot or artifacts found after your boss fight/dungeon escape. Combine that with the fact that the BoAS gives you the ability to add ritual spells in for cost/time/finding them on scrolls, books, or (if the dm allows) from someone proficient in arcana who is willing to teach you it. Then if you can get ceremony into your spell book you can not only marry people but also cast spells to not allow dead creatures to be brought back to life for 7 days. Can you tell im in a zombie/necro heavy campaign?? Also let me know if i missed any cool combos. Keep up the sick videos!

I have actually found a use for the Champion subclass - an Elven Archer, with Elven Accuracy, Sharpshooter, Crossbow Expert, Piercer, and a friend who loves starting combat with Faerie Fire to give you ranged advantage. With Bracers of Archery, +3 bow, and +3 arrows, that's an Alpha Strike with a 37% chance to crit per hit (assuming the target ends up glowy), eight attacks, and a potential average damage of roughly 250 damage / maximum 376, and a normal round of an average of 125 / maximum 188 - and all of this from up to 600 feet away, or at point blank with no disad. And those averages don't count the free 1d8 reroll per round. Oh, and one level of Rogue can be a great non-combat useful one level dip. Did that with an Eldritch Knight once to end up with a gish with the highest Arcana skill in the party. :D

A multiclass I like is the Eldritch Barrage class. 2 Fighter-3Warlock-15 Sorcerer First level in fighter for proficiencies, obviously. Hexblade warlock because duh. All the rest in sorcerer can be whatever we don't care about it for anything but metamagic. First turn : Hex + Hexblade Curse. Every turn after that : Eldritch blast as action, and quicken spell to eldritch blast AGAIN as bonus action. 8 Eldritch Blasts with a 19-20 crit range, +11 to damage thanks to Hexblade Curse and the invocation that lets us add charisma to eldritch blast, for a total of 8d10+88. Yes, that's a flat 88 damage. In a turn. If you hit, but obviously you will because you've got at least a +11 to hit, and probably a number of magical items that increase your attack role value since you're level 20 so let's say +13, and surely u got some friends to help you hit. Get in melee with crossbow master and get advantage from flanking ! And of course, let's not forget our 8d6 damage bonus from Hex ! So a total of 8d10+88+8d6. Accounting for our 10% crit rate, and advantage with Crosspow expert, we should be getting 2 crits in there. Let's say one, just to be fair. So 9d10+9d6+88. And then ? ACTION SURGE, BABY ! ANOTHER 4d10+4d6+44 ! And the great thing about that, the reason we're taking all those level in Sorcerer ? WE CAN DO THAT CONSISTENTLY. AT A RANGE OF 120FT.

The monk/rogue is is a swashbuckler with mobile, 5 levels of monk gives me stunning strike, so i go up and stun 2 enemies (with a failed save of course) cunning action hide with my movement speed. And if they both succeeded on their stun save, my leaving doesn't provoke opportunity attacks, granted i hit them at least once. Not to mention sneak attack, and if you have the Unarmed Fighting style (through a feat, i made it a variant human) so you're doing a 2D8+3D6 sneak attack plus mods, not the greatest but not terrible either. The monk/fighter is close to the same, seeing as how it doesn't get the sneak attack damage, but it does have Action Surge. So you could hypothetically stun 4 creatures in a round of combat, and run back to your hidey spot (4D8+ mods)

Apart from requiring a MAD build (13+ Charisma score), the skills/abilities gained are often offset by either the PC's low ability score (charisma), or a lack of damage-dealing options. In the case of the Warlock, the most that a player could get from Hexblade Warlock would be Hexblade's Curse, their choice of two spells (especially from among Hex, Hellish Rebuke, and Armor of Agathys), and Eldritch Blast. But in this specific instance, Eldritch Blast is nigh useless due to their generally low Charisma score (usually 13 to 14, which isn't much). For the Bard, having Bardic Inspiration and extra skills (for College of Lore) is nice and all, but neither ability per sé increases the damage output of the PC in question. (At least directly.) Secondarily, Vicious Mockery is a save-or-suck spell which becomes useless as soon as high tier 2/low tier 3 play. Finally, College of Swords/Valor doesn't add much to the damage output compared to what the Fighter can actually do already on its own, depending on the Fighter subclass. Druid should be in D Tier (Monk Tier), for a few reasons: A. Most DM's that I have played with (to include A.L. legal games) have made access to "natural armor" nigh improbable to either buy and/or make oneself. Without DM intervention, the PC has to rely on Wild Shape for Armor, thereby taking away their ability to both tank and defend oneself. B. Further, Wild Shape, while good for recon, tends to interfere with normal weapon attacks during combat. C. It's a MAD character. Finally for Wizard, I'd bump it to God Tier just on the strength of the Divination and Chronurgy Wizard subclasses alone. Find Familiar also aids with granting advantage via the Owl's flyby ability. Finally, spells like Shield and Silvery Barbs increase the defensive capacity of the Fighter.

I think that 11 level In fighter and 9 in sorcerer could make the best spellsword ever, you could use quickened spell to cast a fireball as a bonus action and then use blur to teleport away.

Thread necromancy! What wizard tradition do you pair a fighter with? Bladesinger? Sure. But you know what’s an absolute monster? Slap some war wizard on your eldritch knight. Arcane Deflection ftw, because after Ftr 7 you’re using the war magic feature to do booming blade coupled with a bonus action attack, and that’s a cantrip. Saves you those spell slots you’d be burning on Shield or Absorb Elements. Tactical Wit? Yes pls I’ll go first so I can light up my enemy w an action surge. The ideal split is 10/10, probably going Ftr7->Wiz5->Ftr10->Wiz 10. Get war magic online ASAP, then grab wizard for utility spells, better progression and your subclass abilities (and lvl 3 spells), then head on up to Ftr 10 for eldritch strike (you become a nasty nasty enemy when you use your action aurge to cut four baddies, then next round drop SLOW on them), and then take 5 more levels of wizard, ending with Durable Magic - now you’ve got concentration going on somethint (upcast Shadowblade?) you’re doing your fun Booming Blade shit, you take Mobile so you can peace out with impunity, and the whole time you’re rolling with stupid AC and saves courtesy of your concentration. Or use Summon Shadow Spawn and play buddy cop action movie on your enemies :)

An echo knight fighter with between 2 and 5 levels of war wizard is the best "summoner class" in the game. 2 levels gets you all the best tricks from war wizard. 3 levels gets you second level wizard spells. 5 levels gets you haste, fireball, and fly.

I made a multiclass that deals 148 damage in 2 turns, and another that can do 174 in 2 turns (both are level 8 only) both had fighter 2 (cuz action surge is so good), the first was ranger 5 (extra attack, hunter's mark, colossus slayer) and rogue 1 (sneak attack) weapon was longbow, sharpshooter feat second was barbarian 6 (new path, giant) (elemental cleaver and the ability to add rage to a thrown weapon) (also extra atack) greataxe, great weapon master

Just a few things. 1. Echo knights at level 20 using Pam and GWM can have 13 attacks in 1 round (14 if you drop your initial target) and 10 (again or 11) the following round.

Monk can work with druid ... and I'm not talking about Moon druid since there are problems there (for example, natural weapon attacks actually being neither unarmed nor monk weapon attacks). But combining WIS and DEX bonuses in Unarmored Defense can help the druid's eminently lousy AC, and spells that provide Advantage to attack rolls (Faerie Fire, Entangle) can make it much more likely that the monk/druid can actually do decent (not outstanding) damage. It's certainly not a top-tier multiclass, but it can be made to work. Besides, even five levels of druid offers *WORLDS* more elemental mastery to a monk than any Way of Four Elements build. If I was trying to build Aang the Avatar, I'd go monk 6 (for flavor and some of the forced movement disciplines) and then druid for the rest of my career.

As someone who likes playing ranger I'm happy to see someone isn't shitting on them for no real good reason honestly Im not even upset it isn't God tier since I don't think it's meant to be multi classed so often but some classes it works better and with the drake warden being a thing you basically always have flanking advantage after round 1

I'm not sure if you will find this comment. I love your videos, I also love the addition of the music in your videos. a comment I have about the music in the video, personally music with lyrics subtract a good bit from the video, because the lyrics are distracting. A suggestion I have would to find some royalty free chill hop or chill music.

My personal Reason for Wizard; Abjuration Wizard(15-18)+ Fighter(EK(2-5) is extremely good. Now I guess that’s more of a fighter multiclass. If 11 and 9, Good Counterspells and shields and tanking ability while being able cast cantrips, do attacks, and keep your friends safe is good

Monks are good to multiclass on, but bad to multiclass to. What I mean is: if your main class is monk, especially kensei, you multiclassing into fighter can be pretty powerful, and tasha's ranger in some cases. But if you multiclass into monk from other classes you will for sure be on the losing side

Bladesingers are good, but warmagic and abjuration school are also crazy as hell. Enchanters can also use control over one of their foes while tanking.

Thoughts on the Bard-Barian? Personally one of my favorite class combos especially if I'm allowed to play as 2 seperate characters that act as one (think of ice climbers from smash bros ultimate) mostly not legal in game but pretty fun if allowed

Fighter matches with so many wizard subclasses it is crazy. War mage let's you win initiative. Evoker drop the fireball on yourself and your allies. Abjurer will crank your tankyness to the moon. Also it might be better to multiclass wizard than go full eldrich knight because the you don't get a limited spell selection.

I am the Monk Guy, I love them, but I will say, the power creep is slow, you dont get a big buff to damage for awhile, and the most useful skill, solely because of the mobility, is Shadowstep. If you got it at level 3, it might be worth taking, but you barely get anything until extra attack, save movement speed. You get a lot of good late game stuff, but that's only available if Monk is your primary class like you said. On top of that, you'd have to take more than one MC to make it worth anything. I built a level 20 character, that was two levels Trickery Cleric, 6 levels Shadow Monk, and 12 levels assassin and you could crit farm pretty well with Invoke Duplicity granting you advantage in melee. Monk/Cleric is probably your best MC, followed by Druid. Other than that, there's not much else you can do with it. Addendum: Rangers not bad either.

For a good time, try a 3-class combo of Fighter/Sorcerer/Warlock. Eldritch Blast + Quickened Eldritch Blast + Action Surge Eldritch Blast. With Hexblade's Curse and/or Spirit Shroud on top of that, it's the equivalent of 12 full-power attacks per round.
@nicholasromalo5022 жыл бұрын
Hexblade’s curse is nice but picking up Magic Initiate: Warlock for eldritch is all you really need when combined with a Fighter/Sorc and just go Divine Soul for Sorc subclass to pick up Spirit shroud you can have it up by around level 7 at the latest (2 fighter/5 sorc). As you describe it it would take you doing 5 levels of warlock, 2 for fighter and 2 Sorc at the earliest. More damage in the end for sure but 2 levels more to get there and only 4 levels away from level 13 where the sweet spot of dnd ends. Just my opinion
@deathslinky27682 жыл бұрын
@@nicholasromalo502 You need actual Warlock levels to get Agonizing Blast. And Spirit Shroud isn't much better than Hex until you get 5th level spell slots. Also, taking Magic Initiate delays the level at which you can max out Cha.
@nicholasromalo5022 жыл бұрын
@@deathslinky2768 So you want a build that doesn’t come online until 13th level (2 Fighter for AS, 2 Sorc for quickened and 9 Warlock for everything else including agonizing, hexblade curse and spirit shroud using 5th level slots)? What campaigns are you playing where you even get to benefit from that late of a build?
@deathslinky27682 жыл бұрын
@@nicholasromalo502 Only need 7 levels to get the basic functionality. 2 Fighter/2 Warlock/3 Sorc gets to do the Eldritch Blast machine gun nova. Keep taking Sorc levels for more sorcery points so you can throw more Quickened spells. Before you're high enough level for Spirit Shroud, you can use Hex and/or your Hexblade Curse.
