Our latest WW2 short film takes place two days after D-Day or as the Americans said "D-DAY PLUS 2" and shows a clash between Airborne soldiers and a German sniper with his observer.

As an American myself, I immediately noticed the oddity. But it hardly blemished the short film as a whole. I think the effort they put in is commendable.

The first two guys sounded American. The guy who captures the sniper sounded like a non-English speaker. It was fine though, this was well done.

The only critique I would give is the banter at the beginning was a little off. When he says, “California woman” instead of California girl that is definitely a detail that a native speaker would have noticed as sounding unauthentic. Otherwise, great job as usual. Die Uniformen und Waffen sind außergewöhnlich. Gut gemacht!

Probably happened as at this point, many of the best were already dying in Russia. The Germans by now were already bulk recruiting. At Normandy, Americans were suprised to find 7 koreans in German uniform. These koreans started off as a few hundred conscripted into the Japanese army. A battle between Japan and Russia took place in which Russia won. The survivors were sent to POW camps. And then an opportunity for them to join the USSR penal battalions arrived. Some of these Asian soldiers said yes. They were sent to fight at the German front. Same thing happened. They lost. Survivors were sent to prisoner camp and then they were recruited to beef up the garrison at Normandy beach. Recruiting from the prisoners was common when war went on for too long or when the war took too many lives. But these prisoners were usually put into devastating positions, not expecting to survive. This actually happened.

Echt grandioser Mist.

@@chrismath149 As Germans, we had to listen for many decades when Americans or Englishmen tried to speak German. Especially when they played German soldiers. Apparently, American and English circles are not aware of this at all. We should not nitpick here. Otherwise, most American films would have to be re-scored. Apart from the mostly poor portrayal of German uniforms and German war material.

He was talking about his friends he lost and became emotional saying “those American movies made us look like idiots”. I don’t agree with that. I was always in awe of the Germans. They do make great soldiers. Very efficient and disciplined. Their small arm infantry tactics in WW2 revolutionized modern warfare. The tactics are still in used today. I have much respect for the regular army soldiers.

My dad, 82nd Airborne, jumped June 5th, and took part in many small team activities behind enemy lines ... he said, strangest thing... “German snipers didn’t surrender,”. I thought he meant, “they didn’t surrender.” No. What he meant was, “German snipers were not taken prisoner.” Not the same thing.

I love your videos mein fruend! Very realistic and historically correct. I must admit though,I was disappointed with the ending. I was rooting for the German sniper and his pal!💪🇩🇪
