Why would anyone want to fight for today's Britain? Kids of 18 today have been very little by this country. They have missed the best part of their schooling because of COVID protocols put out by men who broke them, they can't afford to rent their own house, let alone buy a house and they can't get basic health care despite paying through the nose in taxes! I wouldn't want to risk my life for Tory Britain.

@@kolsando Do you have the ability to see different perspectives? The younger generation don’t feel like this country is worth fighting for. Why is that so hard for you to comprehend? I truly feel sorry for them. At least the generations before them had the possibility of happiness and building a better future for themselves, now the country is no longer set up for them to prosper. Their destiny is to become slaves to debt and to prop up the pension system. Maybe public service would be a good thing, but if it happened you’d have a lot of angry young men and women who would then become more organised and politically motivated, and at that point I certainly wouldn’t want to be in the boomers shoes. It’s like a turkey voting for Christmas.
@organisedatoms
@organisedatoms 4 ай бұрын
@@kolsando And there you go proving my point. You’re making huge generalisations because you get all of your information from selected news sources and you don’t have the critical thinking skills to understand that the media creates division by peddling disinformation and sowing discord. Not all the younger generation are the same, just as the elder generations before them had different groups of people, especially from different socioeconomic backgrounds with different political beliefs and ideologies. Again, perspective is important, and it doesn’t hurt to try and understand the environment people have grown up in and what’s shaped their views, morals and virtues, opinions and ideologies. I’m also of the opinion that the boomer generation is deeply traumatised due to living through Cold War, and having parents raise them who were war veterans and were themselves suffering from PTSD. I think anyone over the age of 65 should have a cognitive faculties test to make sure they’re cognisant enough to be able to vote.
@organisedatoms
@organisedatoms 4 ай бұрын
@@kolsando You don’t like it do you. Just wanted to give you a taste of your own medicine. But it’s telling that you couldn’t see the point I was making, and I find that concerning. Thankfully the divide between the generations isn’t as big as the media and politicians would like us to believe, and many of the older generation feel sympathy for the young and not all of the young hate the older generation. You’re just on of those individuals who enjoy the division and hatred and get your nourishment from the drama. Pull yourself away from the rags, and media that’s specifically designed to get clicks and actually speak to the younger generation and try to understand what’s going on. Ah, who am I kidding. You’re most like just built that way. “Maybe if you didn’t spend your money on Netflix and avocados you could afford to buy a house” I roll my eyes when I hear such phrases. It truly shows how economically illiterate and out of touch some people are. What are you going to do when the demographics shift to the point that the country is nearly unrecognisable? Who will you want fighting in your corner and country? Because you’ll be too old yourself to do anything about it. Like I said; Turkeys voting for Christmas.

My dad was one of the last national service men and had mixed feelings about it. He loved the initially training and he got paid but felt that he was thrown into a dangerous situation in Cyprus as fodder in a political game nothing to do with him or Britain. He was also disappointed that on discharge he found his apprenticeship couldn't recommence at the good firm he had been apprenticed to. The other option of national service which isn't military is basically forced volunteering and if no pay if offered for work done or military service then it's forced volunteering. It's very offensive to call an 18yr old a bit when some have been working part time or already in apprenticeships and classed as an an adult for voting and some may even be married or a parent. At 18 I'd been working since I was 15 part time, had my car license, travelled the other side of the world and been involved in sports for years. Looking back I was quite grown up and independent hardly a boy. This man's view is not wrong but you can't paint everyone with the same brush
@davfree9732
@davfree9732 4 ай бұрын
Just be reading comments in this VOD, I suspect there may be a stigma attached to national service. The good news is that it's only for 1 year and that will involve training primarily. New recruits don't get sent to front lines. At the core however is the notion that young adults will learn discipline. Those who fail will be turfed out, but those that succeed will have accomplished sticking out a full year in a setting that is highly demanding. That alone would be a source of pride when compared to the washouts.... And Jordan Peterson himself has noted, men and boys are going to his lectures to hear a stranger talk about how they can make something of their lives because they've never been told or allowed to feel that they've accomplished anything... I think there is a great deal of fear going into 1 year of army training on the part of the general public, and I'd rather not pass fear onto the younger generation. I'd rather pass on 'you can do it if you work hard'.
